I’ve worked the small but tough jobs kids worked when I was YOUNG (yards, gopher on construction sites, carrying doubles at a golf course) working in all kinds of conditions - like working “the tubs” in car washes after school, in the winter, when you had to chip the ice to get the water onto the cars under the heaters.

As an adult, I have lumped slaughtered cowhides into leather factories (not bad in the winter, but really not good in the summer), deburred tractor blades; cut and stained center roof beams for Deck houses and run warehouses.

I never thought I would live to see the day that some half assed comedian who may not have ever worked a real day in his life would preach about working a field job being so tough. I would have pulled onions all day long and been glad for it when I was a kid. That SOB clown Colbert wouldn’t have lasted an hour on any of my early jobs.

Thank you Mr. King. And its good to know SOMEONE was in the room who has been there.

Your post made me think of the cotton pickers in Southeaster Missouri where I grew up. These were American men, women and children who hated the hard work, but took it since it meant having a job and a paycheck.

None of these illegal immigrant loving asshats ever cared about them. And gee, Mr. Colbert, how much do you pay your help?
