College professors go big for Democrats (Is anyone surprised?)
Politico ^ | September 22, 2010 | Andy Barr

College professors and administrators are donating heavily in the midterm elections and are overwhelmingly supporting Democrats over Republicans, according to a new study.

An analysis of Federal Election Commission data conducted by the Center for Responsive Politics shows that Democrats have raked in more than $400,000 just from employees of the University of California's network of colleges — 86 percent of all donations from UC employees.

Harvard employees ranked second in donations to Democrats, giving $327,028 to the party — 77 percent of total donations from employees of the university.

Employees of Stanford, the University of Texas and Princeton also gave more than $100,000 to Democrats. At Princeton, no donations have gone to a Republican, the study found.

The employees of only a few universities — mostly in the South — gave predominantly to Republicans. Among them are the universities of Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky.

...my wife is an English professor and after 20 years here’s my take on the liberal arts faculty.

1.they hold resentments because they’ve spent years getting a PhD and don’t earn much money compared to a doctor/dentist/lawyer
2.they have envy...they think “why should that salesman drive a Mercedes, when my intellect is superior to his”
3.many have high debt...those years of student loans haunt them into their 40s and even 50s.
4.they are childish/sensitive/emotionally immature...that’s why faculty meetings drag on for hours.
5.there world is cloistered and they have little knowledge of the real world.
6.a ‘shadow faculty’ exists composed of TA’s that do the grunt work teaching because senior faculty hides out doing research.

I could go on, but I’m hungry for supper

The path to Government and media....and the Commies have taken it over completely.

Anyone not graduating from these Communist Universities does not “qualify” for office.

follow the money....the cost of a college education has far exceeded inflation for two decades at least...yet, there are no comissions to study it,or congressional panels to hold hearings...

Must have a wonderful Engineering school with all those liberals, or perhaps they realize that the Pubbies were useless in NJ, until Gov. Christie came along.

I've been wondering lately when the term "red baiter" will again become fashionable.

My son's father-in-law, a man I have come to know well over the years, recently retired from a major University and has often voiced similar thoughts as you enumerated above.

His level of frustration was very high for many years, but his focus was on his subject and on the students, whom he counts as many of his good friends far more than former colleagues.

As an adjunct faculty my job is simple: I teach, I correct papers, I assign grades. I am spared the endless committees and pet political projects of my colleagues. My class discussions are focused on chemistry. Period. Life is good.

The WashPoo used it yesterday. They omit the witchhunting that went on against the Tea Party this year.

They also omit the “Green Scare” global warming hysteria.

RFK Jr. calls those who denounce such pseudoscience “traitors”.

The CTA has issued a card for public school employees to fill out. It is called a Member Canvas Card for Campaign 2010. It states: "To protect our students, pensions, professional rights, & public education - Can we count on you to support:

Jerry Brown for Govenor yes [] no [] und []

Tom Torlakson for State Supt yes [] no[] und[]

Barbar Boxer for U.S. Senate yes [] no [] und []

Yes on Prop 24 Tax Fairness Act yes [] no [] und []

On the bottom of this card appears the name of the CTA member, the employee's address, and the chapter (school distict). There is a line to print the employee's school site, personal email, and cell phone.

This is the type of garbage that the CTA and the local district's union is pushing on it's members. I find this extremely offensive. I did not fill out the form, but left it blank and sitting on the countertop (twice I had to remove it from my mailbox). I refuse to participate because I know they will use this against me.

After the Socialist and Communist professors told me that I was not going to get my Masters Degree because my world view was warped and short sighted, I quit and got a job. Been working ever since. That was in 1977. My main tenet was that the Soviet Union would collapse. I laugh at them daily, Wisdom is sooooo much more precious than ideology.
