A friend of mine is a pest control specialist that gets rid of bed bugs. He says that he does it by a) providing the owner/tenant with a set of preparation instructions that are 12 steps on four pages, and b) going to the apartment 3 times in the space of 6 weeks and spraying every single crack big enough to catch a piece of paper with chemicals. The three visits catch the eggs that hatch out after the first treatments, before what hatches mature enough to lay their own eggs. Cheap, no. Effective, yes. He says that his business has skyrocketed.

Chicken-processing plants attract a lot of illegals but housekeepers are mostly illegals and they are everywhere. I know that illegals have been bused into Chicago by the thousands, they are in Long Island, they are just about everywhere. Every state is a border state now. But I believe that many of these nice places like good hotels, restaurants, upscale stores and hotels are being cleaned by illegal alien crews.

All it would take is a few housekeepers who are related to chicken-processing plant workers and much of the rest of the spread could be by hotel guests carrying the bugs in their luggage.

Undoubtedly both guests and housekeepers are involved in the spread, but of course the guests are bringing in luggage, whereas the workers typically bring no personal possessions into the room other than their own clothes.

I know that here in TX the preferred treatment for bed bugs is heat. They bring in heaters and take the temps in the infested area to 130 degrees for six hrs.

Also, in TX, where it gets hotter than northern climes, they say putting your suitcase into a black garbage bag and setting it in the sun will produce a temp sufficient to kill the bugs, larva and eggs..I think the kill temp is 120 degrees.
A long time ago, I had a hollow core door with wood ants in it..repeated sprayings with pesticides didn’t work..Placing the door outside in black garbage bags on one hot sunny afternoon got rid of them forever.
