I forgot to say, this all started when my son came home from school with the assignment to “Make a Family Tree”. Mom went and got the family Bibles, the Land Grant that brought us to Missouri and started digging for “her beloved grandson”. I was so ignorant, I had to ask who Virginia Dare was. She gathered it all up, went to the Genealogist Society at the St. Louis Public Library, and from there it went. The earliest family Bible dated 1812, so she had a pretty good start, but couldn't make any further progress on her own.

Obama's statement hardly justifies a repetition of the Conquistador scenario now as the drug cartels are allowed to recreate the conquistador slaughter along our Southern border.Obama is one sick puppy.

Yes and that culture and those people were obliterated by the Spanish Conquistadors’, New Spain was the name of the area that encompassed current day Mexico and much of western north America. So Obama’s revisionist history it seems leaves out the conflicts of the times, I guess had Obama been President there never would have been an America from Sea to Shining Sea...

According to Aztec legend, they came from far to the north, which Mexican racists take to mean the SW USA and draw the conclusions I mentioned from this "fact."

The Aztecs are fairly closely related linguistically to the Utes and other SW American tribes, FWIW.

There is, BTW, some evidence that the move of the "Anasazi" into their cliff dwellings was related to an increase in Meso-American influence, perhaps even "missionaries" from what is now Mexico.

If the neighbors got into human sacrifice and cannibalism, I'd move into a cliff dwelling, too.

Actually not true. Just outside the town of Aztec, NM there is a large ruin that is called "Aztec Ruin." Nothing to do with the actual Aztecs, of course, but still an Aztec ruin.

One of my ancestors was a Spaniard who settled in San Juan, Puerto Rico (the oldest European settlement under the U.S. flag) before 1530.

And the 1587 Roanoke settlement that included Virginia Dare’s parents was the second such settlement, the first having come in 1585. The 1585 expedition stopped in western Puerto Rico on the way to North Carolina, where another ancestor of mine, Spanish Governor Diego Menendez de Valdes (an Asturian, and cousin of Juan Menendez de Aviles, the founder of St. Augustine, FL), allowed residents to trade with the Englishmen who needed supplies for the rest of their voyage.

0blahblah is a nitwit who doesn't know the most basic history of America. There was no such thing as Mexico until 1821. It was a place, like the Sonoran desert is a place, but until independence in 1821 the people there were subjects of Spain and either Spaniards or of some native tribe. There were some other European imports too such as Germans, Dutch and French but they were also Spanish subjects.

I have known a lot of poorly educated half wits in my life but I am hard pressed to think of one who was so poorly informed about our history as this Kenyan goofball.
