Olmert: US Agreed to Take 100 Thousand Arab Refugees (P.A. denies)

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert revealed on Sunday that when he was serving as Prime Minister, he had reached an agreement with the United States and then President George W. Bush, in which the US agreed to absorb 100,000 Palestinian Arab refugees. Olmert added that at the same time he struck a deal with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that Israel would absorb only a small number of refugees.

Speaking at a conference by the Geneva Initiative, Olmert said: “The numbers discussed were below 20,000, but this would require an end to the conflict and a Palestinian announcement that they would not make any more demands. If we had reached an agreement, it would have changed the map of the world and the entire Middle East. We are not to blame. If there is no agreement, it's because the Palestinian side was not prepared to take the extra step that we made.”

Olmert addressed those who had criticized the passages from his new autobiography that had been published over the weekend, and said that those critics are ignoring the facts.

“I don’t want to get into this issue. When the book comes out I’ll be happy if you buy it,” said Olmert.

(edit)

Meanwhile, a Palestinian Authority source denied Olmert’s claims about the refugees. The source told Yediot Aharonot that if such an agreement had been reached, it would have been with the US alone.

Send these Egyptian and Jordanian refugees back to their homeland in Saudi Arabia.

If true, it’s one more confirmation that Bush, although admirable in manyu ways, was nearly as bad about refugees as Obama.

There were virtually no Muslims in this country until what, the 50s? 60s? How did we get started doing this?

Very depressing indeed.

Just guessing, but since 'most' cancers that America is having to contend with ultimately originated with the ACLU, I'm guessing that either they or one of their tentacles had a role in opening these particular floodgates.

Wow....so the only thing unprecedented about this story is the scale of it, then.

If the United States were a single person, he/she would have been institutionalized for attempted suicide.

I love Israel, but not enough to welcome 100,000 brainwashed Pali-bombers as my new neighbors!

Agreed....this would have been madness. I will be eager to find out if this story is in fact true. Hopefully President Bush will comment on it within a day or two.

Isn’t this astonishing? I had to blink several times when I first saw the headline. Hopefully there will be followup stories on this over the course of the next few days.

Our parents would have hung any legislator who came up with the idea of importing Moslems into the USA.

Part of the Bush plan was to flood Oklahoma City with them. Also as part of the deal, it was reported Rove arranged to take 5,000 from the Congo, some of which were reportedly from cannibal tribes.

Well, that actually has some merit. I can think of a few cities where releasing 5000 cannibals into the population would create a distinct improvement........
