Karl Rove Says Christine O'Donnell Needs to Explain Witchcraft 'Dabbling' to Voters
AOL News ^ | 19/9/10 | Bruce Drake

Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

I tend to side on jurisprudence. I don’t attack so fast as to look ridiculous. I will give a time a wash out. I’m a tough guy but I make sure I’m right. That’s old school. :^)

No investigation at all is needed. O'Donnell is the official Republican candidate and anyone who doesn't agree should just butt out, go home, and start slicing their wrists or whatever.

Nobody here cares.

So you don't care if you are being screwed. It just depends on who does it. Am I correct in this assumption?

How many times does it need to be said, nominate the most conservative candidate who CAN ACTUALLY WIN. It generally does no good to nominate people who are just going to get blown out in liberal states or districts. What is it people are not getting here? Scott Brown, for example, IS a RINO. Would you have preferred someone like O'Donnell in Mass who wouldn't have had a chance in hell of winning? How about we run arch conservatives in Maine and lose both those seats? Yeah, I get irritated as hell at Collins and Snowe, but we get their votes enough to put up with all their BS.

I am all for voting for the conservative in a primary, just try to maybe pick one who is electable in the general - O'Donnell is almost certainly not.

Saying that, I do agree that after the primary we need to circle the wagons - but that does not mean the discussion of why it is important to nominate the most conservative candidate who CAN actually win won't continue.

and just HOW would it benefit us to put a Rhino - that votes with obummer - especially on cap and trade that would be the final coffin nail in our freedoms - be a plus?

He's a given. Put him back in and it's status quo - in favor of the rats.

At least, with O”Donnell running, there's a CHANCE. This is not a normal election. did you not read the turnout stats in DE????

She has a great chance if she isn't sabotaged by the entrenched establishment that see their hierarchy threatened, that see the very real possibility that WE TH PEOPLE will actually have some say.

If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

Got it, Problem?

Sure seems like Karl Rove is working hard to keep this issue alive. Who is he trying to rile up? The Fundies or the Catholics? Man, I detest these RINO SOBs.

There was a little shop near my high school that sold those potions and little “witchcrafty” things, and of course on the way home some kids stopped in. A few tried those little potions on the guys they had crushes on. BIG WHOOP.

IMHO, I concur with Karl Rove.

The only thing I find more offensive are the excuses others make to avoid such a simple degree of accountability.

I can generally get along with many a liberal and those of different denominations, but I find those who adhere to anything and everything antiChristian to be far more degenerate and lacking in righteous maturity than even the agnostic.

The most disgusting part of the American experience today is the avoidance of anything which simply relies upon faith in God through Christ.

IMHO, such national degeneration against what He has provided, is far more erosive than then most evil plots against the Constitution.

Say that, and you’ll have to keep repeating it a la Trent Lott. She’ll be cornered into it.

Christine should NOT take the bait. She should be determined to focus on the issues no matter what.

I am aware of that. Also include in the Byrds/Dylan list, Mr. Tambourine Man, The Bells Of Rhymney, Chimes Of Freedom, etc. Good stuff.

Using that same logic, the republicans would never have nominated Goldwater in ‘64 nor Reagan in ‘80. The republicans certainly did not win in ‘64 but the enthusiasm engendered moved the nation forward to the Reagan victory in ‘80. And I might add the overwhelming majority of pundits declared Reagan an extremist that could not possibly win. Hello!!
