The Tax-Cut Racket
By PAUL KRUGMAN
Nice middle class you got here, said Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader. It would be a shame if something happened to it.
O.K., he didnt actually say that. But he might as well have, because thats what the current confrontation over taxes amounts to. Mr. McConnell, who was self-righteously denouncing the budget deficit just the other day, now wants to blow that deficit up with big tax cuts for the rich. But he doesnt have the votes. So hes trying to get what he wants by pointing a gun at the heads of middle-class families, threatening to force a jump in their taxes unless he gets paid off with hugely expensive tax breaks for the wealthy.
Most discussion of the tax fight focuses either on the economics or on the politics both of which suggest that Democrats should hang tough, for their own sakes as well as that of the country. But theres an even bigger issue here namely, the question of what constitutes acceptable behavior in American political life. Politics aint beanbag, but theres a difference between playing hardball and engaging in outright extortion, which is what Mr. McConnell is now doing. And if he succeeds, it will set a disastrous precedent.

P!
find out what Krugman has been drinking for Lunch ... I want a CASE!!!
Does Krugman have a parasitic disease affecting his brain or some other form of dementia?
He makes no sense, whatsover. The facts of economic history stare him in the face, unnoticed.
Once when asked about his Halloween masquerade plans, Reagan joked he was going to slap some egg on his face and come as an economist.
They are liars and they have lost any moral authority that they claim they had to complain.
The Mob Boss Not the MOB boss
quick, somebody send this man a case of Glenn Beck Duct Tape before it’s too late
Income belongs to the people who earned it - not to the government.
Letting people keep more of what they have earned is not a "giveaway".
Wealth is not a synonym for "income".
"The Rich" is not a synonym for "earners"
Only income earners pay taxes.
Businesses only create jobs when they are rewarded for being successful.
Government creates no wealth, it can only spend or destroy it.
Government spending is not a synonym for "investment".
The middle class is being systematically destroyed by overspending, over-taxation, and over-regulation; all of which is an intentional effort on the part of Progressives to make more people dependent on government, meaning: on them.
Paul Krugman is among a cadre of Progressive intellectuals who ever seek to provide both rationale and encouragement for violations of our Constitution and the inalienable human rights it explicitly recognizes. As a moral matter, he is no better than the man who lets thieves hide from the police in his attic. Even worse: he encourages the police to act like thieves.
Krugman is all for spending another trillion dollars in “stimulus” money stolen from the taxpayers. But God forbid Krugman and the rest of the Democrat bourgeois allow Americans to keep more of their own money to start with.
Krugman is a socialist who got his economic degree from a box of Cracker Jack.
It gives me a good chuckle that Krugman has become so self-righteous that he’s trying to seel Mitch McConnall as a mobster.
Can you imagine Mitch saying, “Leave the gun, take the Canoli?” Or how about “SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!”
