Well, call me a contrarian, and I wish O’Donnell the best, but all along all Rove was saying - along with Perino and other commentators - is that O’Donnell will be a harder sell than Castle to get another Republican senator elected and to secure a GOP majority.

Do I agree with DeMint? Yes and no. I can assure everyone this: I am in Delaware, am a native of 50 years, and every down-ballot conservative, including many conservatives such as Colin Bonini and Gordon Winegar, wanted CASTLE at the top of the ticket given his proven crossover appeal.

I spoke with other operatives in the DE GOP senate caucus today and the consensus was uniform: it is now every man for himself, which is regrettable.

O’Donnell might yet win the general, or she could collapse entirely. Castle would have waltzed into the seat and many downballot conservatives would more likely have been elected.

I understand out of state folks desire to only view the Senate seat from a national perspective, but we in Delaware had our game plan which has now been obliterated. Our chance to retake the State house is now gone, too, and we had a good shot.

Yes, that's what he was saying, but he said it vindictively. And that is what was wrong, and continues to be wrong, with his spiel. Way over the top, totally unnecessary to go after a woman as he did, and in doing so, he did irreparable harm to himself.

Oh please..Christine brought out more of the average voter this time around. Rove does not know Christine personally, and was talking as if he did. Voters are tired of it. Why would you say you care about the people of Delaware in your post but quote Rove’s predictions? Do you honestly believe he gives a flip?

I live in delaware too.

I don’t doubt that down-ticket Repubs wanted Castle- after all they eat from the same trough.

But to think he would help them get elected is ludicrous. 32% turnout in a non-presidential primary. If O’Donnell wasn’t on the ticket, that number would likely be under 10%.

I’m an independent BECAUSE of candidates like Castle. O’Donnell may or may not win; but the die has been cast.

And if she loses, Delaware will have a Senator only slightly more liberal than Castle, and we can blame it on the Democrats.

Establishment Republicans at any level need to get the message- if you want to take us the same place the Dems do- only slower, it aint gonna cut it anymore.

BTW- The State GOP webpage still procalims its support for Castle. Wonder how much money has poured into their coffers in the last 36 hours?

Think it’s a mill plus?

Will Wallace

You say, “ I am in Delaware, am a native of 50 years, and every down-ballot conservative, including many conservatives such as Colin Bonini and Gordon Winegar, wanted CASTLE at the top of the ticket given his proven cross over appeal.”

Don’t you get it? Republicans are sick of “cross-over appeal” (in real speak - I’ll vote Dem and you can adjust). I would rather see the Republicans in the minority for a couple more years than see an eternity of “cross-over appeal” while the entire nation collapses. It is time that the Pubs get the message that we are sick of McCains and Castles being the choices we are offered. If they can’t do the job right then the voters are going to have to MAKE themselves be heard - buh-bye Castle!

You may have had a game plan, but it appears the people of Delaware who voted for O’Donnell didn’t agree with you. That would be the majority of Republicans voting. It doesn’t matter what you and the establishment republicans wanted.

Karl Rove said a lot more than that!

He savaged her personally, making her sound like a whack job with the the ethics of a Charlie Rangel. He is calling on her to “Tell the truth,” accusing her of lying. He hasn’t been addressing her political views, he is attacking her social views, which are grounded in her Christian faith.

This is nothing other than blatant character assassination by Karl Rove.

Nope, just refreshingly logical.

Angle was down 20 points when she started. O’Donnell is only down 11. The attacks need to be on Coons and she has a very good chance to win this thing. Look at Coons Marxist views, his views on Free Enterprise not working, his wanting to distribute wealth. Those are the issues that got O’Donnell elected the Party rep. Those are the issues that will get her the seat if we phrase it that way and do it often enough.
