Christine O’Donnell Wins Republican Nomination – Now Moves on to Fight the Republicans
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Mark Meed

Upon reading the reviews of Christine O’Donnell’s win over Mike Castle in the Delaware Republican Senate primary, one could be forgiven for conjuring up images of monks (a la Monty Python) walking around in a circle, whacking themselves with boards and chanting “Woe, verily woe!”

Ruth Marcus over at the Washington Post is scared and despondent:

… I had thought the silver lining of this election year might be to produce a Senate with a more robust cadre of moderate Republicans.

[…]

Now, it’s as plausible to envision a bolstered Jim DeMint caucus, following the disturbingly powerful junior senator from South Carolina: Sharron Angle (Nev.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Ken Buck (Colo.) — plus the two other incumbent-slayers of the primary season, Mike Lee in Utah and in Joe Miller in Alaska. Scary.

“Moderate” Republicans in Marcus’s world are Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Scott Brown. Lord knows the Senate will be deeply impoverished for lack of even more of such gelatinous types whose favorite color is plaid and never met a capitulation to the Progressive Democrats they couldn’t rationalize.

Evan Sayet once asked how many foreign armies would have to march through the Arc de Triomphe before it would occur to someone to change the name. Exactly how many Arlen Specter’s do we have to send to Washington before the Republican Old Guard will realize that never works out well?

Karl Rove, for one, doesn’t appear to have figured this one out yet.

It wasn’t making sense why the establishment was getting so exercised over Christine O,Donnell, so I decided to do a little research. I thought that like Palin, it might be because she is pretty and she is conservative, and surely that explains some of it. But after reading her bio I have become convinced that it is because she is a Born Again Christian. Maybe the Ruling Class would like her better if she was to submit herself to Allah and start wearing a burka. Two birds with one stone. Negate the good looks and solve the pesky little Christian problem.

Hy did Karl Rove destroy his career over one senate seat?
Rove said that Republicans were looking to pick up 8 or 9 seats, and now they’re looking to pick up only 7 or 8 seats.

Well, Karl must have flunked math. There are 41 Republicans in the Senate now. His best case scenario of picking up 9 would only get the GOP to 50 seats, with Biden breaking the tie in favor of the Democrats.

So by Rove’s math, no matter he you slice it, you’ve still got a Republican minority.
So I ask again, why did Rove destroy his career over one measly Senate seat?

But more importantly, there is something fishy about tuis feverish support of a Republican who is to the left of Jim Jeffords and Arlen Specter.
The Democrats offered only token opposition to Castle. Coons himself ran unopposed. He was chosen by the Democrats as a sacrificial lamb to give Castle an easy walk to the Senate. Was it so he could then switch parties?

But here’s the upshot to all of this:
Don’t believe the BS that O’Donnell is the weak candidate in this race.
She’s not. Coons is. He was hand picked for that very quality.
Coons was supposed to give Castle an easy win, and Castle was supposed to give Democrats an surprise Senate seat. But O’Donnell has foiled their plans. Now we have a real conservative who is going to keep the seat in the Republican column running against a weak, self-proclaimed “bearded Marxist” opponent that was hand picked for sacrifice.

Think we can win it with O’Donnell afterall?

The entitlement mentality has migrated to the Republicans. They, too, have overlooked the desires of the voters who put them into office. Castle believes that he is entitled to the nomination, and is reacting in a way that can only be described as a lack of integrity and statesmanship. The Republican elite have the same attitude to their peril. Ask Rush Limbaugh about the definition of "moderates!"

“a weak, self-proclaimed “bearded Marxist” opponent that was hand picked for sacrifice.”

All Democrats should now be called “Marxist”, as long as they follow their Marxist leader.
Marxist voters are as Michael Savage says “red diaper doper babies”, as well as neo-Marxist.

What is happening now is bigger than 11/2. We in the early stages of a medium term trend. The 2010 Mid-term election isn't the apex of the curve, it is a point on the low end of an exponential curve. That means we will see more incumbent losses in 2012 and even more in 2014. I would also expect to see the discussion of term limits increase dramatically in the next year, especially if the Republicans take back Congress and do what they have always done.

For those who understand what the tea party is really about and who have been paying attention, Tuesday's results were not a surprise at all.

Listening to the political and media elites in order to understand what is going on is useless in this environment because they are always five steps behind the curve.

I got into it last night on twitter with Hugh Hewitt’s producer and a tribble of his.. she stated that my view was myopic, mockingly. He and Hewitt backed castle, I will admit they support O’donnel now... my point was they supported a rino to start with. Neither of them could understand that we are tired of well he’s or she has an r by their name, nevermind they are a democrat in all but party. I wasn’t seeing the big picture or being pragmatic. How is it a win for us to send another Snowe or Collins back in there?

OMG!! Hugh disappointed me. We have LOST BIG THINGS when Snowe and Collins VOTES AGAINST THEM!! We can Always count on those two spineless RINOs to go with the Democrats.

I think that’s a part of it, but really, I think it has more to do with who Mike Castle is: the Last, Great Hope of turning (keeping?) the Republican Party as nothing more than liberalism’s good cop in a good-cop/bad-cop routine of imposing an unpopular liberalism on the masses.

The fact that she’s a Charismatic Catholic just makes it all the scarier.

(*Charismatics, in the Catholic sense, are what you’re mistaking for “born-again.” They believe in the “extraordinary gifts” of the Holy Spirit as being intended for the laity in the present time. These are the supernatural gifts, such as healing, as opposed to the “ordinary gifts,” such as wisdom, serenity, discernment, etc.)

IMHO:

The incestuous party hacks that are running both parties need to have “moderates” in control so they, the “moderates”, aren't in control.

The Republican leadership doesn't understand that if I want a “moderate” version of the Democratic ideals I would vote Democrat. If the republicans truly want my vote then they need to give me a choice linked to something I want to support.

The TEA party is winning because it reflects my views. Like it or not, no institution or political party has the “right” to survive once it no longer serves a purpose. See buggy whip manucatureres from the early 20th century.

I agree with her on many of the issues, especially compared to Castle. However, she's a mismatch for the state and has an erratic history.
