Does anyone buy his “conservative” beard shtick anymore? The MSM trots him out when they need to tut tut over something.

Only at the NYT could Brooks be considered a conservative. Well, maybe the LAT too.

I’m not sure he’s a Republican. He claims to be a conservative. In the NYT, Karl Marx is a conservative.

There are millions of voters who, while alarmed by the Democrats’ lavish spending, still look to government to play some positive role.

What a stupid knee jerk cliche. What about all the government spending before the Democraps took over? By what indice was that "too little" ? Why does that not deserve a debate?.. This guy is just a shill.

Is that the face of a true conservative? He’s got the look of an enlightened Northeast inside the Beltway elitist moderate at best.

Dear Mr Brooks,

Since you sincerely believe that higher taxes and a larger federal government are necessary for society to continue, please forward your voluntary contribution to:

ATTN Dept G
Bureau of the Public Dept
PO BOX 2188
Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188

In the memo section, notate that your check is a gift to reduce public debt.

Thank You!!!

Let’s start holding these folks who want higher taxes, feet to the fire. Put yer money where your mouth is.

Brooks apparently believes we don't have enough government and that taxes are too low. I'd say that makes him a Republican only in the rarefied air of 8th Ave. between 40th & 41st streets.

Of those two great fonts of liberal faith - the NYT and the WaPo - at least the WaPo is big enough to allow real conservatives, like Charles Krauthammer, regular space on the editorial page.

The Times is so craven that only dainty, Ivy League eunuchs like Brooks and Ross Douthat are even allowed to broach a hint of dissension from the great unanimous chorus of truth.

Back when he was writing for the Weekly Standard, Brooks was their most shallow, insubstantial, style-obsessed columnist — kind of a metrosexual male version of Peggy Noonan — which made him a perfect fit to be the NYT’s token “conservative”.

I guess those blackmail photo’s the Clinton’s dug up, haven’t outlived their usefulness.....

Does Brooks believe anybody buys either his “Republican” label or his “More Gov’t, Higher Taxes” pitch?
