Critics and supporters alike have requested speedy House trials for Democratic Reps. Maxine Waters and Charlie Rangel, who each face multiple House ethics charges. Yet watchdog groups tell the Hill it's unlikely that either case will be resolved before the Nov. 2 general election.
"Both of these pending trials should have been concluded months ago," Craig Holman of Public Citizen told the Hill's Susan Crabtree. "The House ethics committee stumbled miserably in these cases, allowing them to be delayed and delayed, until they have become hot election issues."
Waters, of California, and Rangel, of New York, have each taken to public forums to call for speedy trials and demand that they get the chance to clear their names before Election Day. But both lawmakers say they've yet to hear any word on the scheduling of their trials.
It's not hard to surmise what lies behind the delay. As the Hill notes: In an already tough midterm climate, Democratic leaders aren't eager to have news of the Rangel and Waters trials dominating headlines right before the general election.

Personally, I have no hope for the trials. They’re only for show.
>Once these two crooks are removed, expensive special elections would follow.
I think the real question is if they *will* be removed... I don’t think that the political-class is concerned with Justice.
No matter. We can pound that message over and over.
There should be a special panel of has been politicians ramming Rangel with pertinent questions, on national television so they can write books afterward....
That would hit Rangel where it hurts! /s
Oh, WOW! BIG surprise!
A trial will be just a bunch of criminals handing out justice to another bunch of criminals. Rangel and Water’s will get out of this without a scratch.
Oh, WOW! BIG surprise!
