Regardless, here is what Ovide has to say on the matter:

There's what Ovide says now and what Ovide has said and done in the past.

NH Firearms Coalition gives him an 'F' on 2nd Amendment rights.

The Palin zombies don’t care about any of that.

Well shoot, LaMontaigne got an F from the NRA, and we have a lot of FReepers on here acting like he's the second coming of Ronald Reagan or something. If people are going to support a RINO, might as well come out in the open with it.

Technically, Ovide got an F from a NH gun rights group, not the NRA.

But I get what you mean.

Sorry, I thought the Firearms Coalition was affiliated with the NRA. My bad!

Whoa there bucko, not so fast. You’re giving us softball pap from the candidate’s own website, while the problem with LaMontaigne is shown from independent, issue-advocacy websites?

Um, no.

Interesting that NHFC credits Kelly Ayotte with opposing re-imposition of the so-called “Assault Weapons” ban and not Ovide, who also opposed it. Gun Owners of NH gives Ovide a “B”, and I imagine their concern is the same one that bothered NHFC - the bill to ban firearms from schools. I agree that the legislation was likely flawed as drafted because it might have inadvertently extended the affected zones to those where school activities were being held. Enforceability of that provision would have been problematic, but it’s a fair point to make. In any event, I’ll ask him about it tonight.

For anyone interested. Here is what “they” say on the issues.

http://www.wmur.com/politics/24211832/detail.html

In my opinion, Palin did little digging into this race before she endorsed Ayotte. I’d surely take Ayotte over Binnie, but Ovide is certainly a stronger conservative advocate in person.

As we've reported, Ayotte has gotten into some trouble lately, between party in-fighting and some concerns about her conservative record.

What conservative record?

Certainly much funnier than the Hunter cultists. No sense of humor whatsoever. I suppose an inability find other like-minded people could make for an isolated, dreary existence, so it's somewhat understandable.

Based on the NHFC description of their grade:

Ovide Lamontagne (R) - Manchester

Not only did he support legislation that would have eventually become a statewide gun ban, in the guise of creating so-called safe schools, but he continues to defend the flawed concept that prohibiting possession of firearms in any place will make that place safer. He also refuses to fill out a survey detailing his positions on specific Second Amendment Issues.

... it sounds like they’re rating him an “F” based on one vote and his refusal to return their survey. Not much meat on those bones.

The Union-Leader is headlining an Ayotte-bashing article nearly daily now based on much less.

It's amazing to see the Ovide-Union Leader team join up with Binnie/Hodes trying to tear down a courageous pro-life conservative woman.

Disgraceful, I'd call it.

NH SENATE RACE - 10 REASONS WHY KELLY AYOTTE IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE

1) She was responsible for supporting Gov. Lynch’s attempt to raid the $110M JUA fund in 2009. This attempted private property taking by our government was stopped by a lower court and confirmed by the NH Supreme court.

2) She repeatedly urged Gov. Lynch to veto the expansion of the Castle Doctrine in 2006 (SB318) and 2009 (HB160).

3) She supported the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor, but now opposes Elena Kagan’s nomination.

4) She previously supported Federal earmarks before changing her position, as candidate Ayotte, to oppose them.

5) She spearheaded the state’s efforts to apply for Federal stimulus funds and was responsible for their administration, but now candidate Ayotte opposes the stimulus spending.

6) In 2005 she forbade state police from enforcing trespassing laws against illegal aliens and using them to take the aliens off the street, but now supports Arizona’s right to defend itself.

7) In 2006 she testified in favor of HB1713 requiring a photo ID to buy cold medicine.

8) In 2007 she testified against HB906, informing juries of their right to nullify.

9) In 2009 she opposed part1, article 8 right to hold public officers accountable in HB312.

10) In 2008 she testified in support of broad application of state DNA testing in HB1640.

Heck, what are you saying, you're probably on the payroll!

And we will of course be LECTURED by ruling class elites as to the FOLLY of nominating CONSERVATIVES—that is, those who cannot reasonably hope to be elected. “Better a RINO than a democrat”, goes the refrain.
