Six Christians rip pages from Koran in White House stunt (No bias in this title!)

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A small group of conservative Christians tore some pages from a Koran in a protest outside the White House Saturday to denounce what they called the "charade of Islam" on the anniversary of 9/11.

"Part of why we're doing that, please hear me: the charade that Islam is a peaceful religion must end," said Randall Terry, a leading anti-abortion campaigner, and one of six people who took part in the protest.

Another activist, Andrew Beacham, read out a few Koran passages calling for hatred towards Christians and Jews, and then ripped those pages from an English paperback edition of the Islamic holy book.

He carefully put the torn pieces into a plastic bag, in order not to litter, and said: "The only reason I will not burn it at the White House is because to burn anything on the Capitol grounds is a felony."

Beacham, who describes himself as a leader of the rightwing conservative Tea Party from Indiana, added: "The Twin Towers were taken down because of the Koran and other religious teachings."

A few curious tourists stopped to watch the huddle outside the White House, while police took down the names of the participants but did not intervene.

Tea Party leader from Indiana Andrew Beacham reads a page of the Koran before ripping it out and crumpling it in front of the White House in Washington, DC. A small group of conservative Christians tore some pages from a Koran in a protest outside the White House Saturday to denounce what they called the "charade of Islam" on the anniversary of 9/11

The venom dripping from the AP's fangs is too obvious, and they could not help themselves. Here was a chance for them to take a swipe at Christians, Tea Party Activists, and anybody who would DARE oppose "The One" on his front lawn.

By the way, I have a huge problem with this:

A few curious tourists stopped to watch the huddle outside the White House, while police took down the names of the participants but did not intervene.

Until 2004, when the SCOTUS issued a decision from a case that began in Nevada, you did not have to do this.

The ruling marked the first time the court endorsed a provision compelling citizens to reveal personal information in a citizen-police encounter that may become a police investigation.

It is BS, and under this regime, is used to intimidate people.

It violates the 5th Ammendment, since by demanding info from you, they can they target your for a criminal investigation, even though you have clearly broken no laws and are only exercising your 1st Ammendment rights.

But, who said this was a free country anymore?

BTW, the MSM and leftists never call their groups by the label "fringe" and their protests are never "stunts" - they are the acts of the saintly.

It looks like a stunt to me. People should leave street theater to leftists. They’re naturals at it.

I’ve noticed this from the press on this story. In their leadins they talk about the “nut” the “loon” the “stunt” etc.

Heck, they didn’t talk that way about the 9/11 murderers.

I guess it’s the fashion to editorialize, as long as it’s about a group it’s PC to demonize. Pravda is alive and well in America.

Here is another MSM double standard that is so blatant in this article:

The tiny protest came as the United States marked the somber ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks amid heightened tensions following a radical Florida pastor's threat to burn the Koran.

I have seen anti-war protests in DC that had 3 three people, while counter protesters were in the hundreds.

The anti-war group was given blazing headlines, favorable coverage, and no mention that they were 3 strong.

The counter protest was mentioned only in the context of being "hostile", and there was no coverage on their huge numbers.

You know what? That minister from FL the media is all calling fringe achieved his goal. He didn’t burn the Koran, but people all over the country are re-claiming their right to freedom of expression.

I believe Mr. Beacham and his group would have made better use of their time spreading the Gospel of Christ to a lost and dying world. You know, The Great Commision? Ripping pages out of the Koran does not accomplish that. Its nothing but sound and fury, signifying nothing.

It isn't "theater" to the Muslims.

That guy who ripped those pages just signed up to possibly be murdered.

Rip out pages of the Bible or the Torah, and those people most likely will pray for you.

Do that to the Koran, and you very life is in danger (not to mention your family).

I am not joking, and if you don't believe that (and you don't think the Islamicist have seen that guys face), you are not paying attention.

Street theater gets the votes; we conservatives deserve to be called “Charlie Brown” chumps when we post such retiring comments.

I would like to see more conservative street theater, done right, perhaps with our pistols in our holsters!

A google search shows that Andrew Beacham’s name is not a leader in the Tea Party in Indiana nor does his name show up on any of their lists. That said, he’s only doing what the left has done for years. The double standard, hypocritical left spews venom daily and applauds itself for doing so, yet chokes on one guy expressing his opinion within his constitutional rights.

As do I! Those were the words that hit me as I read this screed.

To the best of my knowledge, every Saturday for YEARS during President Bush's term in office, the code-pink commies would "demonstrate" in front of the White House. I wonder how many of their names are now on file.

If you’re going to give the media what they want, don’t be surprised when they use it against you.

I think the war against evil (and Islam is leading the charge) takes many forms.

The Great Commission has many battlefronts, and many campaigns.

Not all of them involve standing on a hillside reading scripture, although spreading the Gospel is the ultimate goal.

There are Billions on this planet who cannot hear the Gospel because it is illegal to do so, or those who do so are tortured and arrested. China. North Korea. Syria. Iran. Saudi Arabia.

The list goes on and on.

It is illegal to even possess a bible in these dark lands.

To fight Islam, and expose its evil, is part of the Great Commission. We are at war.

""Enemy-occupied territory---that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us to take part in a great campaign of sabotage."

C.S. Lewis

Those who can be reached, the Holy Spirit will find a way.

Those who cannot, have hardened their hearts, and will be cut off and thrown into the fire.

"Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will not remove his folly from him."

Proverbs 27:22

People should leave street theater to leftists.

There is still a small degree of freedom left in these United States of America. If you don't approve of street theater, then do not participate.

You do your thing and allow others to do what they feel they are called to do. Live and let live in a country with little freedom left to do so.

I totally agree.

The passivity of past 9-11 celebrations (with the exception of the 1-year anniversary in 2002) have become pathetic and sad.

Rather than outrage, rather than defining the enemy (Islam), rather than realizing the danger - people do nothing, or at best, listen to some worn out tape recording of "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes while they ring bells.

If we don't wake up, the Muslims will be setting off nuclear weapons on simultaneous cities in the future.

Mark my words.

And who coined the term "Religion of Peace"? Our very own GW. I knew back then that we would end up regretting that unfortunate description of Islam.
