The U.S. Justice Department doesn't want the author of Arizona's new immigration law to be a party in the state's appeal of a ruling that put parts of the law on hold.
The Justice Department tells the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that state Sen. Russell Pearce shouldn't be a party to the appeal because Gov. Jan Brewer's attorneys are already defending the law.
Pearce's attorneys say their client has a unique interest in making sure the law's objectives are defended and is concerned the state doesn't adequately represent his interests.

Most made reference to Thursday evening’s New Orleans Saints-Minnesota Vikings football game that opened the National Football League’s 2010 season.
At least one made mention of the Mississippi State University-Auburn University college football game also being played.
But every one of them lauded the 50 or so folks who put aside their channel changers and came out to the Thad Cochran Center on the University of Southern Mississippi campus to be the warned of the damage that more than a half dozen guest speakers said was being done to America by illegal immigration.
‘We are in a common fight, a fight against those who would destroy our republic,’ state Sen. Chris McDaniel, R-Ellisville, said. ‘It is our very way of life that is being challenged.’
McDaniel and others were on hand as the invited guests of the Mississippi Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement, which presented the ‘Immigration Enforcement Forum’ in association with the Mississippi Tea Party.
‘We are a nation of immigrants and we are a nation of laws, and those two ideas, are not inconsistent with each other,’ said Russ Latino, a Madison lawyer and Tea Party contributor. ‘Illegal immigration is a real and complex problem and there are no easy answers for it.’
McDaniel and state Sen. Joey Fillingane, R-Sumrall, said they intend to sponsor illegal immigration bills in the 2011 legislative session. Rep. Becky Currie, R-Brookhaven, intends to do so in the House.
‘We are not against legal immigration at all,’ Currie said. ‘If you’re legal, come on.’
The legislation will be similar in content to a recent Arizona law that had key parts blocked this past July by a federal judge.
‘The Arizona legislation was the template that we used with a few words changed here and there,’ said Fillingane, who brought a 17-page first draft of his bill to the forum. ‘The spirit of the law is the same.’
Fillingane said he felt like the issue would have support in Jackson this winter.
‘Yes, we do feel like a version of it will come out of the Senate,’ Fillingane said. ‘The House, which is Democrat-controlled, we don’t know, but it should. This is an issue that cuts across party lines.’
The Commie Obamanoids keep making their target on Arizona bigger and bigger. There is no way the end to all of this is going to be pretty. Arizonans are fed up.
I believe the Judge had a problem with Mexico throwing in their two cents. But your point is well taken: DOJ had no objections to Mexico’s brief.

Rioting Hits a Sanctuary City

The Los Angeles Police Department’s sanctuary policy is officially intended to foster trust between illegal aliens and the LAPD–in particular, to ensure that illegal aliens cooperate with the police in reporting crime. No one has ever shown that sanctuary policies result in more witness cooperation than would occur without such policies, but we can now say with assurance that the more general “trust and good will” rationale for sanctuary policies is bogus.
For the last two days, Hispanics in the Westlake section of Los Angeles, a poor neighborhood of Mexicans and Central Americans close to downtown, have violently clashed with the police following the fatal shooting on Sunday of a drunken Guatemalan “day laborer” — i.e., illegal alien — who had been threatening passersby with a vicious-looking knife. Responding at 9.30 p.m. to a 911 call regarding the knife-wielding assailant, three officers on bikes confronted 37-year-old Manuel Jamines with weapons drawn and repeatedly asked Jamines in Spanish and English to drop the knife. Instead, Jamines, who, as was his weekend wont, had been drinking since 9 a.m., lunged at them with the knife over his head, according to LAPD chief Charles Beck. Officer Frank Hernandez responded with two shots which killed Jamines.
The subsequent protests could well have been organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton. Residents have thrown rocks and bottles at officers, set trashcans on fire, and hurled projectiles at the windows of the local Rampart police station, while calling the police “assassins” and demanding “justice.” A store security guard had to flee in his car after protesters got in a shoving match with him; as he sped away, they threw objects at his car. As usual in such matters, witnesses are claiming that Jamines was unarmed.
The LAPD has worked for years on cleaning up the Westlake-Ramparts section from the gangs and disorder that have characterized it. Illegal aliens and their progeny have been both the perpetrators and victims of that disorder; they are also the beneficiaries of the department’s recent progress in cleaning up the landmark MacArthur Park, which had been infested with the drug trade and prostitution.
Chief Charles Beck, who recently took over the LAPD from William Bratton, is one of the department’s most street-savvy commanders; he took command of the Rampart police division following the greatly overhyped Rampart corruption scandal of the late 1990s and restored the division’s crucial role in aggressively fighting gangs. Beck’s rise to the head of the department was a great boon to Los Angeles. Beck is also an unequivocal defender of Special Order 40, the LAPD’s controversial sanctuary policy. Given the unstoppable power of Latinos in Los Angeles politics, it is unlikely that Special Order 40 will ever be reconsidered. But Beck is having a lesson in the limits of a policy that panders to the illegal alien lobby.

I lived in Utah when there were virtually no "Latinos", and that was all of 30 years ago. And contrary to nonsense believed by gayboys who write for the Economist and Peruvian Spaniards, it was never Mexico. Just because the Pope claimed all of North America to the North Pole in 1495 for the Spanish King doesn't make it true.
But it's good that garbage like him make such claims, because it tells ordinary people how the Spaniards see their real role in the United States: as territorial conquerors and colonizers. Only idiots and Democrats (a redundancy, I know, but some idiots aren't Democrats) don't believe that now. The saw about "we only come to work" is not heard anymore.
The truth is, "we only come to take over and rule you damn gringos".
