U.S. Has 'No Strategy' to Confront Homegrown Terror, Security Group Warns

The United States has failed to anticipate the danger from homegrown terrorists and now faces the most complex set of threats since the Sept. 11 attacks, analysts on an organization headed by the two 9/11 Commission co-chairmen warned Friday.

Unveiling a new report a day before the nation marks nine years since the 2001 attacks, members of the National Security Preparedness Group said Al Qaeda and other terror groups are increasingly turning to U.S. citizens to carry out attacks on the United States. Though the U.S. at one time may have thought its cultural "melting pot" would provide a "firewall" against radicalization from within, group member Bruce Hoffman said that assumption turned out to be false.

"The United States has failed to fundamentally understand and prepare for these threats," Hoffman said. "Terrorists may have found our Achilles' heel. We have no strategy to deal with this growing problem and emerging threat."

The report said U.S. authorities failed to realize that Somali-American youths traveling from Minnesota to Somalia in 2008 to join extremist Muslim groups was not an isolated event. Instead, the movement was one among several instances of a broader, more diverse threat that has surfaced across the country.

As a result, there remains no federal agency specifically charged with identifying radicalization or working to prevent terrorist recruitment of U.S. citizens and residents, said the report.

"The terrorists, it said, may have discovered America's "Achilles' heel in that we currently have no strategy to counter the type of threat posed by homegrown terrorists and other radicalized recruits." "

POtuS should have watched this before his presser today.

We are going to be attacked by these bstrds RELENTLESSLY and our government is failing us.

They may not have a strategy, but I have a number of ideas about what we should do.

My ideas are ugly, ugly, ugly.

But I don't currently see any pretty ideas that can handle this situation.

Make no mistake - they don’t intend on using the power of the government to protect the citizens from the threat of “homegrown” ISLAMIC terrorists.

All efforts are focussed directly on those on the right that do not consent to the elitists’ plans to control our lives.

Quite the contrary. They do have a plan.

Give muslims anything they want.

Actually we have some great folks with great and workable plans.

However, many are ignored, lampooned, or scuttled by PC agenda driven politicos.

Look out after your own.

Their only strategy is to work at disarming the American populace!

Seesh, what numbskulls.

Or Forefathers DID anticipate situations such as this, and they enacted the Second Amendment.

The “plan” will be a massive crackdown on us, the citizens and other residents of the USA.

Restrictions on firearms, energetic materials and their precursors (smokeless powder, black powder, sugar, potassium nitrate, drugstore peroxide...), restrictions on private communications, restrictions on free assembly.

More and more searches will become reasonable. Privacy will be for the elites.

All to keep us safe from Terrorism (and dissent).

Everything Obasturd does is to tear down America. In this case, he ignores internal terrorists because he knows that whatever damage they do will bring America closer to collapse.

Face it, America elected a man who wants to destroy it.

This probably won’t sound very good, but I’m going to say it anyway.

We have over 2,000 Islamic Mosques in the U. S. and enough adherents to fill each of them, and our leaders didn’t think this could be a very serious security risk.

Mosques all around the world are filled with people listening to leaders tell them that the U. S. is the Great Satan. And yet, we’re supposed to believe that none of this takes place on our soil.

Anyone remember Reverend Wright? As I understand it this guy used to be an Islamic adherent. Today as a professed Christian, he sounds for all the world like an Islamic Cleric from the pulpit. And we’re not supposed to wonder what’s actually going on when it comes to actual Islamic pulpits?

We have over 30,000 Saudi Arabian students in the United States today, here on student visas. I’d wager the State Department couldn’t tell you where 1% of them are right this minute. Our leaders didn’t think this could be a very serious security risk, despite 15 of the 19 09/11 attackers being..., you guessed it, Saudi Arabian students here on student visas.

Yes, Barack Obama deserves to be criticized heavily for this. And sadly, George Bush does too. He’s the one that negotiated an increase in the number of Saudi students that could be here at one time.

Comforting isn’t it.

And we need some agency to tell us all this stuff? Not really. None of this is a surprise to me.

Freedom of Religion or Proliferation to gain control?
I believe the answer to the question is clear.
By their actions their intentions shall be known.
