I did two multi-month 'vacations' in the north Kuwaiti desert (mid-91 and '97). Those care packages were greatly appreciated by all. A big Thank You to all who sent them back then!

That said, the folks picking the goodies and packing the boxes didn't quite grasp the obvious sometimes. No, most soldiers didn't want multiple copies of the same Chris Isaak CD. And no, packing bags of M&M's in the same box as detergent packs is NOT a good idea. Even the hungriest troops doesn't usually eat soap-flavored chocolate.

Also a good recommendation is to make the date the package was packed very clear. If the unit moves alot or like my experience, transferred often, the military mail, while sometimes inefficient and slow, almost always catches up to you. I am still expecting a Valentine’s Package to arrive on my stoop from ‘97
