DUBAI, United Arab Emirates U.S. Marine commandos stormed a pirate-held cargo ship off the Somalia coast Thursday, reclaiming control and taking nine prisoners without firing a shot in the first such boarding raid by the international anti-piracy flotilla, U.S. Navy officials said.
The mission - using small craft to reach the deck of German-owned vessel as the crew huddled in a safe room below - ranks among the most dramatic high seas confrontations with pirates by the task force created to protect shipping lanes off lawless Somalia.

They should have killed all of the pirates and thrown them overboard so they would eventually wash up on the beach.

Chum for sharks! Great idea.
Or simply thrown them overboard. Maybe a survivor could spread the word.
(Blackjack Pershing left a few survivors to that bullets dipped in pig fat, bodies buried with pigs thing he did)
I want to know why our sailors are being put in danger and our taxes are being spent to reclaim a vessel for a foreign nation. Let the owners of the shipping line pay for its own security detail.
With pork chops stuffed up their noses.
Oops, thanks Cindy. I did a search but didn’t find anything.
I said “sailors” when I should have said “Marines”.
I understand.
That’s happening to me a lot lately.
Why is the U.S. military being thrown into harm’s way defending German ships? I am a little vague on the facts, but I believe that I read somewhere that the area has comparatively few U.S. cargo ships sailing in that area. It’s time that the U.S. stop donating lives and resources for the benefit of ungrateful foreign countries.
Good for the Marines...
"Danke schön!"
“I want to know why our sailors are being put in danger and our taxes are being spent to reclaim a vessel for a foreign nation.”
Exactly my reaction. I did a quick google search and found this fact which indicates that we shouldn’t be putting ourselves out:
“[there are] few U.S. ships in the Gulf of Aden as few as one out of the 70-80 ships in the Gulf of Aden each day”
Once again I will encourage our military to employ one dozen black ops with two boats. Send them out for two weeks and request they put holes in all pirate boats. No more pirate problem. Special OPs guys know how to keep their mouths shut. It all quietly goes away.
Semper fi Devil Dogs
And WELL DONE!, Marines.
For once, some good news.
Commandos?!?
Bump to the top !
