Coffee prices hit a 13-year high Wednesday, extending a rally that has sent prices up about 43 percent in the past three months.

Sen. Charles Schumer , D-N.Y., says he wants U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk to warn some major coffee growers in Brazil and Vietnam not to stockpile their crops. He said that could boost coffee futures contracts even more.

Still cheaper than many vices.

I like my two cups in the morning but as with orange juice I can live without it.

I'll do the same I did with cigars and just quit.....But with coffee, I'll just cut my consumption in half...Drink too much anyway....

I love being cheap and love refusing to pay higher prices when possible.

It's a win win.

Interesting....my local grocer seems to have a good deal on coffee (regular name & house brands, not the fancy stuff) every week. But, no coffee specials in his ad flier this week!

I’m going shopping tomorrow; I’ll report back on what I find from southern Wisconsin. ;)

My gold & silver are doing really well, though! I’m looking for great Fall-into-Winter prices on those commodity shares. :)

I always have a three can backup. I’m not picky. Folger’s Colombian is $6.99 this week. I imagine it will be going up to 10 bucks soon.

If coffee drinkers would cut coffee consumption by 15% the price would come down in a hurry. And it would be healthier too.

I'll cut my intake 50 percent, just to be in there face.

Being cheap is sweat revenge...

More money in my pocket too!

7 bucks for folgers?!!!

Check out that Melitta.
All I buy is the classic blend.
It is like espresso grind.
I make that in the espresso machine.
Seems to drip well in a drip machine.
Never bitter.

I went grocery shopping today and was struck by a couple of items which had not just gone up but had nearly doubled in price.

The first was butter. It was so high that I bought margarine for maybe the first time in years. Also all brands of bacon were way up. I didn’t notice too many other things but the reason those caught my attention was the amount of increase. Oh, and milk also had gone up but not as much.

I am a bit of a coffee whore.

If the world ended as we know it I would prostitute myself for a cup of 100% Kona coffee.

Yeah, I’ve got it that bad.

Cutting my coffee consumption by 15% would be a little difficult as I’m not a math genius. I guess that would cut me down to 4 and 1/4 cups a day. I LOVE coffee! As far as health, it seems to ward away Alzheimer’s in my family. The non-coffee drinkers all got the dreaded disease. Unfortunately, I smoke too, but fortunately we have all avoided the things like Alzheimers, etc. My aunt made it to 90 and grandparents to late 80’s. I really wouldn’t want to live longer than that.

Ya but Melitta is $4.49 for 11 oz versus Folgers 34 oz tub. So nearly double the price. I like Folgers, too.

Yah, butter was a bit of a surprise. I thought I could ride-out the coffee spike, but it looks like I’m on the wrong end. I’ll be stopping-by Wal-Mart tomorrow to see if it still has the Maxwell House in stock at the price I saw last week.

Yup. I got a deal on Folger’s for $5.99 this summer. I bought three plastic thingies of it.

I’m picky when it comes to food, but I take my coffee black and strong (and obviously not very good tasting!) I’m in it for the caffeine.
