Chris Gibson, whos running against Democratic Rep. Scott Murphy for New Yorks 20th Congressional District, told supporters in Maplecrest on Saturday his campaign is raising respectable figures.
Clearly if youre following this closely you see that my opponent has a lot more money than me, he said. But fear not, he told the supporters, gathered under the pavilion of CD Lane Park.
Filings with the Federal Election Commission last week show Gibson has $526,334 cash-on-hand compared to Murphys $1.45 million. Gibson raised $262,000 during the last filing period, while Murphy brought in more than $325,000.

I glad that the Daily Mail is covering it ... but why?
“The 20th Congressional District spans 10 counties including Greene and Columbia.”
I didn’t click through to the article. 99% of articles from “The Daily Mail” are from the more famous UK version.
This is a tiny paper, the biggest paper in the area (Albany TU) is a shill for Democrats and they love Scott Murphy.
Colonel Chris Gibson is the real deal and I think he can take the seat. Scott Murphy (Dem) is a real Nancy boy. Folks around Columbia and Greene Counties are getting real sick of him. Of course he voted for Obama Care and Porkulus.
But Albany is not in the 20th. And I don’t think many folks in the 20th are swayed by the Albany Times Useless.
doc, NY20 is a field organizer’s paradise. Bigger than the state of Massachoosie. Gibson is a real talent, Murphy a real snake.
This will be one cycle where money will be secondary to message.
