BERLIN: A German held by American forces in Afghanistan has revealed details of planned terror attacks in Germany and other European countries, Der Spiegel weekly reported Saturday.
The US believes that the detainee, a 36-year-old from Hamburg, is a "major source" of information on future attacks, the news magazine reported.
Germany's foreign ministry has acknowledged that a German was being held by American forces in Afghanistan, but refused to give any more details.
According to the magazine, the detainee, identified only as Ahmad S, was part of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.
German authorities have been asking to be given access to the detainee since he was picked up by American forces in Kabul in July and transferred to a US military prison at Bagram, the report said.
The detainee reportedly travelled to Peshawar in March 2009 before heading to the Afghan border. He left at the same time as a dozen suspected extremists who attended a radical mosque in Hamburg vanished from the city.
Some of them are known to have attended a terrorist training camp where they learned how to use firearms and explosives, the magazine said.
Ahmed ? That's not German is it?
transferred to a US military prison at Bagram
Bagram, eh? Prolly sucks there.
is a "major source" of information on future attacks
What PC idiot wrote this news item? “Ahmed” is most definitely NOT German.
Sad to say, he is most likely a muslim (remember folks, muslims are muslims first, their nation of origin is a distant second) that either was born in Germany or became a German citizen, however leave it up to the press to deliberately cloud the issue.
Here in Germany, I've noted the very recent phenomenon of journalists casually (without extra explanation) referring to people with names like Mahmut or Hussein, or whose parents are identified as having lived in Anatolia, etc. as "Germans." After all, without further context, the natural inclination for the reader is to take the "default" stance and assume that the writer is discussing some blond-haired kid whose parents liked exotic first names, or who were in the diplomatic service, etc. - unless clarifying words were added, like "of Turkish extraction" or "with a migratory background."
For me (who is himself an "Ausländer" here in Germany) this was at first confusing. For native Germans, I'd think that it was downright bizarre. But now I've realized that it is part of the new agenda.
Regards,
Have you not seen that Germany is going be predominantly Muslim in a couple decades?
It’s the same here in the US. For example, an illegal from Guatamala is described as though he were a local resident.
For Obama and his co-conspirators to succeed, it will be necessary for all of you right wing extremists to immediately stop with your relevant observations like this. Either stop or they will send you immediately off to the FEMA re-education camps. /sarc>
In the liberal venue, that would be FEMA, the Federal E-ndocrination of Muslim Agents
It’s the propaganda media trying not to say Muslim. A German here, an Englishman there, a Canadian etc.
That having been said, do you suppose that the German government considers him an "illegal combatant?"
In this country we use such terms to denote nationality. Racists and Europeans use them to denote ethnic groups. Thus, French Jews, which lived in France way before the Gauls, are still not referred to as French. Just as in your remark.
Good question. If he was in fact plotting the deaths of Germans and other Europeans, then the German government should consider him a dead man.
Turn him over to the Germans, let them handle his detainment. They can get the information they want quick enough. Sorry, no Club Gitmo for you dude.
The MSM is an evil, anti-American, anti-Christian, pro-barbarism smear propaganda machine. That's what they are and that's what they do.
He may be a German national, whether by birth or naturalization.
