I am really, really sorry to hear this — for her children's sake. Mental illness is a terrible thing. I'm really, really sorry that Durham can't find a way to get her into an institution and long-term therapy and detoxification. Most of all, I'm really, really, really sorry for the people of Durham, because you have people in authority who apparently aren't able to discern that Ms. Mangum is a few cards shy of a full deck and refuse to get her help. Durham is the only place I can think of where when you say “I'm okay. It's the rest of the world that's crazy,” you may be right.

Durham is the only place I can think of where when you say I'm okay. It's the rest of the world that's crazy, you may be right. When my friends in Durham want to indicate that a person is mentally imbalanced, they say, "She's not right." Which comes out "na wroiaht."
