White House fires back at Boehner By Sam Youngman and Jordan Fabian - 08/24/10 12:06 PM ET

The White House fired back Tuesday at Republican leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) from its highest levels.

Speaking at a stimulus act event at the White House, Vice President Biden ripped Boehner's call to fire top Obama administration economic aides and rebutted his points.

Boehner spoke earlier Tuesday in Cleveland, outlining GOP economic policies and calling for the ouster of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council head Larry Summers.

Biden mockingly said, "[That was] very constructive advice, and we thank the leader for that."

The vice president said Boehner wants to restore Bush administration economic policies that he argues drove the economy into a deep recession.

"Before we arrived in the West Wing, Mr. Boehner and the Republican Party ran the economy literally into the ground," he said.

"They think that the policies they had in place for eight years during the Bush administration were the right ones," he added. "I respect their honesty, I respect them for saying what they think.

"Mr. Boehner is nostalgic for those good old days, but the American people are not ... They want to move forward."

When the White House responds to criticism, it means the critics have struck a nerve.

“Mr. Boehner is nostalgic for those good old days, but the American people are not ... They want to move forward.”

Where is that move forward, is it part of the “Summer of Recovery”?

This is political grandstanding by Boehner but it’s a good move. Even the commies at MSNBC are talking about it. Which means, the economy is being pushed where people want it, onto center stage.

Why wait passively for the Obama’s to attack W, and be forced into a defensive position. Put the onus on the Obama administration, and his choice of tax cheats who are trashing the economy. Force ownership of the mess onto the Obama administration.

I think Boehner is a politician first, above all else, but this move is a good one.

Hey, when they’re firing at you, you KNOW you got under their skin. :) Good job, Boehner.

Lots of nerves to be stuck in this White Hut. I haven’t witnessed an administration that punched down this much.

Never mind that the dems have controlled congress since 2006.

Guess he was absent during those years, except when he was attacking the surge and other ways to success in Iraq.

Remember well his idea to partition Iraq into various ethnic group areas. Ethnic cleansing by another name.

Even the pathetic lemmings on the Dem plantation are reluctant to follow VP Bite Me over the cliff of Obamanomics.

When businesses fired 750,000 workers in Jan. ‘09 to “celebrate” BO’s immaculation, they were sending a clarion call to the nation that, based on his inexperience, they had no confidence in his leadership.

What did Zero do? He appointed a gaggle of university professor “czars” who shared his twin evils of massive ego and no expertise in real life outside the ivory towers of academia.
They have proven themselves to be total failures and should have been fired months ago.

Years of a mostly Democrat Congress ran this car into the ditch. Time to put the car in “R” and get out.

Biden said the other day that the Dems are going to retain both houses of Congress in November.

Hey, Joe I’ve got 500 clams that says you’re wrong. Are you game?
