U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer says New York will win millions of dollars in federal education funding when "Race to the Top" program grants are announced Tuesday.
The competition has instigated a wave of reforms across the country, as states passed new teacher accountability policies and lifted caps on charter schools to boost their chances of winning.

No free money for Colorado or New Jersey.
California has fallen short in its bid to win a controversial federal Race to the Top school-reform grant.
The winners are Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia.
The only thing more expected would be to see Chicago at the top of the list.
Does anyone even come close to believing ANYTHING that comes out of the Obamaloon felon crowd?
More money down the drain.
If they win $500 million - they can build one LA type school...
Fixed it.
This is the only program of Obama’s that I can get behind.
