Excuse my ignorance on this subject...but why can’t Texas and other states put their national guard troops and their law enforcement on the borders to patrol?

My understanding is that they can... until the CIC nationalizes the guard and orders them to stand down. But, most politicians don't have the nerve to rock the boat.
We can. Several challenges, however: first, they’re virtually all part-timers who can’t stay indefinitely; second, it takes a lot of money to maintain and pay them, and if the President doesn’t put them on Title 10 orders (feds pay), it all comes out of the state’s pocket; third, there just aren’t enough NG troops to property patrol and monitor an exclusion zone that’s (in Texas’ case) over 700 miles long.

We need to start electing politicians who will secure the border and DEPORT the Illegal Aliens. Too many claim to be for secure borders....but at election time still will vote for a John McCain and not a JD Hayworth. Yes part of the problem is also with ourselves
