WACO, Texas —- Speaking at a press conference alongside Mexican President Vicente Fox, President Bush said yesterday that he opposes a citizens' effort to help Border Patrol agents monitor illegal aliens crossing the border. The president called the volunteers who have joined the effort "vigilantes." March 24, 2005.

Yep. We were doing the final prep for the Minuteman Project with Jim when we had to listen to that crap. We are pouring thousands of dollars, burning up vacation and sick time accrued for years, giving up jobs, etc all so we could take a stab at getting some focus on what was really going on there, not some politician’s fantasy sob story about the "poor lost illegals" wandering across the border to scrub toilets for a dollar an hour or something.

Excuse my ignorance on this subject...but why can’t Texas and other states put their national guard troops and their law enforcement on the borders to patrol?

Except for Jam Brewer in AZ....there is not a single border state governor who wants the border secure. The others are Open Borders Nutjobs who want Illegal Alien Amnesty.

We need to start electing politicians who will secure the border and DEPORT the Illegal Aliens. Too many claim to be for secure borders....but at election time still will vote for a John McCain and not a JD Hayworth. Yes part of the problem is also with ourselves
