Last night, Dr. Laura appeared on Larry King to announce that she was leaving radio because. essentially, she is tired of being threatened for speaking her mind.

Larry King acts like he’s 5 years old or something. When he has to go to the bathroom during the break, does he have to raise his hand to his cameraman to get the green light?

I used to like Dr. Laura but her own personal turmoil about her faith, her specious relationship with her husband and her her own personal hypocrisy kind of turned me off to her. She was a Catholic, then a Jew, then renounsed her Judaism on air, them denied what we all heard and now refuses to discuss it. Not to mention how long can you last on radio haranguing people about living together in sin. Not to mention almost to a person she has a rep of being a angry, controlling little harpy in real life and awful to work for. Bad fruit on that tree.

I tend to agree with you. I used to like her show and as a matter of fact it was largely due to her that I convinced my wife to stay home with our then infant son instead of working.
She has a lot of personal issues. That said, it isn’t right for anyone to use the “N word”. Saying one group can use it and one cannot based on their skin color is RACISM.
Well, then, by all means, don’t listen to her.
She was completely right. I think her apology was forced by the station, and that is why she is quitting the station. There must have been a huge brouhaha from the lefties, who have always wanted her to quit, and she had to back down.
She has a prophetic voice; may she fight tirelessly in whatever venue she chooses.

I now believe that in 30 years, from overuse, the word N——r will be a common joke word. I have had many black friends in the north who use it among themselves in nearly every sentence. I now have a southern friend who tells me his granny uses it around town and blacks and whites accept it as part of life there.
Where is the shock? Its feigned for TV as an exchange for free goods and services. Other than that...its pretty much dead.

I completely agree! It’s time for conservatives to stop groveling and tell them to bite us! That’s the only way all the hysterical accusations of “RACIST!!!!” will ever end...when they stop WORKING.
I used to listen to her too, until I got tired of her yelling at people. What happened to her relationship with her husband? Is she still practicing Judaism?
Racism is race prejudice combined with power. Because the institutional power structures in this country are dominated by whites, only whites can be racist, and according to some analysts, virtually every white American is a racist to some degree, since all whites benefit from this institutional racism.
On the other hand, because blacks are by and large excluded from, and even repressed by the institutions that dominate our society, virtually no black can be called a racist, and when they refer to whites as "honkies" and "crackers," they are only expressing righteous indignation at the institutional racism that grinds them down.
Don't believe me? Just ask a college professor if I'm right. The vast majority of humanities and political science professors in this country will likely agree with these statements.
