"CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric is en route to Afghanistan today. She will anchor the newscast from Kabul on Thursday and Friday for CBS News' "Afghanistan: The Road Ahead" series. (Erica Hill and Harry Smith will, respectively, anchor in her absence until then.)

Meanwhile, NBC News' Ann Curry is in Islamabad, Pakistan where she'll be broadcasting live starting tomorrow for the "Today" show as well as "NBC Nightly News." Curry will be reporting on the major flooding in the region as well as interviewing Sen. John Kerry.

Forgot to add the “s”.

I sure don’t want to offend anyone from DU who may be reading this...

Advanced scouts for Obama when the $hit hits the fan? The TOTUS is in dire need for a distraction and it needs to be huge.

If Katie promises to wear a Burqa, I just might tune in.

This is just perfect. Let’s get MSM to say how great it is over there... yes, we’re going to be able to “pull out” and make nice nice with the Taliban and Al Queda.

Katie, don’t forget your sweat proof makeup and designer Burkha!

I haven’t watched NBC or ABC or CBS news for over a year. Every time I do, I have to run to the bathroom and hurl.

I know! They will go to a Christian Church in those countries and get their perspective on the mosque in NY.

Bob Woodruff could give a caution to these two.

Obama had a closed door meeting last week with several representatives of the MSM, but whether that’s related to this story would just be speculation.

” Let’s get MSM to say how great it is over there..”

Amazingly, ABC and NBC did very critical reports last week on the status of the training of the Afghan Army and the Iraqi Awakening Council.
Martha Radditz reported from Afghanistan on the dismal level of readiness of the Afghan Army.
They’re like cavemen and I’m not talking the Geico guys , I’m talking Fred Flintstone-they have a 98% illiteracy rate and 95% don’t know how to drive.
The NATO and US forces are desperately trying to bring them into the 21st Century in time for Barry’s retreat .
They can’t drive the military vehicles and they can’t read or comprehend the vehicle dials in their own language, let alone English .
Our guys are trying to give them a rapid Driver’s Ed course and teaching them to read and write , among everything else they have to teach them.
Watching them in formation makes you cringe ,
it’s impossible to think they will be ready to take command of their country’s security next summer.
IIRC, Richard Engle was the reporter from NBC who reported that the members of the Sunni Iraqi Awakening force ( who look much more professional walking the streets than the Afghans ) feel betrayed and abandoned by the US pullout
and fear retribution from the Shiite dominated dysfunctional government
when Barry sounds the retreat.

Let me guess...Obama will be given all credit for any progress, while setbacks will all be Bush's fault....there, saved them a long plane ride....

All in keeping with the tradition of...."fake, but accurate".

Ann will (I'm sure) be reporting on the massive flooding in "Pok-e-stahn"...which reminds me...remember this little piece of "serious NBC News journalism"?
