Last year we marched on Washington, D.C. and asked Congress: Can You Hear Us Now? This year we will spread our message to repeal the corrupt legislation forced upon us, reduce the size and scope of government, and restore the founding principles of our nation with 3 large regional rallies in 3 great American cities: Sacramento, California; St. Louis, Missouri; and Washington, DC.
Tea Party Patriots local coordinators asked for regional events and we responded. This year, in the east, we have secured not only the west lawn of the Capitol (as last year), but also the magnificent Washington Monument in DC. At our central location in St. Louis, we have as our backdrop the equally grand Gateway Arch on the grounds of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, built to symbolize the beginning of our westward expansion and the promise of a nation which would stretch from sea-to-shining sea. In the West, we will meet in Sacramento, in the heart of the Golden State, which for so many on the westward migration symbolized the promise of wealth, prosperity, and a limitless future for themselves and our growing country.
In gathering in these locations we once again commit ourselves to the greatness and promise of America, and our core values of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets, which secured the promise of our past, and is the hope for our future.
Last year we marched on Washington, D.C. and asked Congress: Can You Hear Us Now?
And Obama answered No, I can’t hear you. And then he left town.
This is the 1st I’ve heard of it. I hope it’s as big as last time. I’ll be there either way.
Is there a thread already out there with details? Any FReepers planning to be in DC on 9/12?
Glenn Beck’s event with Sarah Palin is August 28, and try as I have, I can’t make it to that, and your thread here is the first I’ve heard about a Tea Party this year in DC on 9/12/10.
Thanks for the ping. Not sure I am going to the Beck deal anymore(still debating with myself..lol). This is the first I’ve heard of a Tea Party in September. I certainly can’t do both from Texas, but perhaps one or the other. Wish I lived closer to DC. I would be in that city EVERY SINGLE DAY giving those elitists an ear full...LOL!!
This is ridiculous. We should coordinate events so that there are one or two big events per year. We have 8/28. 9/16. plus many local events.
Only a few hundred go to any one local event.
I was at the front Capitol steps last year for the 9/12, standing right next to where the little gray gnome initially hoisted that big “Public Option Now” sign.
Also, I remember thinking while looking at the U.S. Capitol... “we have the numbers to TAKE this building.”
The next event has to be a Million Man Blockade of the Capitol starting the morning of Nov. 3.
Nobody In or Out till Jan. 20!
Didn't you read at the link you posted? Apparently, the permits have already been secured, and these three rallies are a go.
I’ll be there on the banks of the Big Muddy!
Cuccinelli’s one of the confirmed speakers for DC.
I am going to see if we can organize something in Madison...
I sincerely doubt that I will be able to travel to DC this year, but I’m sure there will be plenty of FReepers in attendance.
Thanks Jim, was just wondering if there had been a formal announcement/thread of a FReeper gathering and I missed it.
Under the assumption that I too will be there, I will try to post some threads in the coming days so that the FR contingent in DC can try to meet up, march together, and generally enjoy the Patriotic comraderie!
That would be great. I am rethinking my trip again now and am pretty sure I am going to the Beck 8/28 deal for the troops. After watching his show today, I feel more compelled than ever to attend. I wonder if any other Freepers are going to that?
Not sure, but Beck will be there 8/26, I believe.
I meant 8/28
