Most leftists in America believe that they are much, much, smarter than the American people. In fact, they believe that a whole lot of Americans are not just stupid, but evil. That is the crowd that Barrack hangs out with, so it would make sense that he would do the opposite of what the American people want.
Why would anyone want to do stupid and evil things?
