MAINE REPUBLICANS STAND WITH ARIZONA

Maine-authored resolution receives unanimous support from Republican National Committee

AUGUSTA - A resolution in support of Arizona's right to enforce existing federal immigration laws was passed last week at the Republican National Committee meeting in Kansas City. The resolution was introduced by Maine GOP Committeewoman Jan Staples, and received unanimous support.

"Maine Republicans stand with the people of Arizona," said Staples. "As a border state, we understand the gravity of this issue. The safety of our citizens is of paramount importance, and Arizonans have the right to protect themselves in light of lax federal enforcement."

The resolution cites specific support of S.B. 1070, a bill passed by the Arizona legislature and signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer. The Obama Administration has sued the state of Arizona, and a federal court struck down most of the provisions of the law as a result. Arizona has appealed the decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll showed a majority of Mainers support the passage of an Arizona-like law in Maine, with only 39% supporting the Obama Administration's decision to sue the state of Arizona.

"We are proud that Maine is leading the way in support of Arizona," said Maine GOP Chair Charlie Webster. "This resolution reflects the overwhelming consensus of people across this nation that Arizona has the right and responsibility to protect its citizens. The Obama Administration has failed to provide the support required to do this, and we salute Governor Brewer and the people of Arizona for taking a stand for what is right."

Resolution in Support of the State of Arizona

WHEREAS, the United States has a rich tradition of extending the promise and opportunity of America to immigrants who legally enter her borders; and

WHEREAS, America recognizes the contributions of generations of immigrants legally entering the country have made to the economy and culture of the United States; and

WHEREAS immigration that is both legal and controlled allows immigrants coming to America to openly assimilate into the culture of their adoptive home and, therefore, more readily reap the benefits available to all who reside legally within the borders of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the federal government, through lax enforcement of the federal immigration laws, has failed to protect our nation's borders, our citizens and legal residents by stopping the flow of illegal border crossings; and

WHEREAS, the State of Arizona, to protect its citizens, legal residents and visitors, has therefore passed S.B. 1070 to enforce standing federal statutes concerning immigration; and

WHEREAS, the Arizona law mirrors federal immigration law and does not provide any additional burdens on any person legally present in the United States; and

WHEREAS, enforcement of the Arizona law explicitly prohibits profiling; and

WHEREAS, the rule of law has been, and should continue to be, the basis of governance in this country; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that The Republican National Committee supports the State of Arizona's right and responsibility to provide security and stability for its citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the Republican National Committee supports the State of Arizona's effort to protect its citizens, residents and visitors through the passage of S.B. 1070.

“We do not all blindingly follow our two senators. “

That’s good ... talk about blind leading the blind, that would pretty much define it.

Maine Republicans????????? Do you have them confused with RINOs, latent Democrats, Liberals, “Back stabbers” and a whole host of other descriptions?

We all know that there are no Republicans in Maine...just turncoats and those who go along to get along.

If those dangerous Canucks can spark this kind of empathy our border situation must be really really bad.

To the patriots in Maine, I must apologize. A couple of days ago, thanks to your two dingbat Senators, I emotionally reacted in all the tradition of a Liberal and said that you all suck because of their voting for the 26 billion payoff...ooops...I meant "bailout" (tee hee) of the Liberal Clans of Teachers & Union Thugs.

I'm sorry about that. I've adjusted my remarks to be more precise: "Your two lame Senators and the tools that vote them back in to office every time, hereby SUCK."

Thanks for supporting Arizona & standing against the Head Tool Obama.

I sincerely thank you and accept.

We are working very hard right now on two congressional seats and have a real good shot at having a true conservative elected governor on Nov 2nd.

On November 3rd, as winter comes to Maine, we start our next project;

.....SNOWE REMOVAL.....

From a state that “boasts” Senators like Klobuchar and Franken, we salute you. (We are comforted, of course, by Michele Bachmann, the Franken-Klobuchar antidote who sends Minnesota liberals into paroxysms of apoplexy.)

I should hope not. Snowe and Collins are kneepad Democrats voting almost %70 of the time with the Democrats. To call them Republicans is a gross misnomer.

I’m a Maine Conservative / Republican / TEAper, and when I heard that our two seditious turncoats had confirmed KAGAN the PAGAN onto our SCOTUS, after having confirmed LaRAZA supremacist judicial activist / globalist SOTAMAYOR, I found myself addressing my TV set about the same way - both in volume and vocabulary - that Mel GIBSON allegedly addressed his (ex?) Wife / paramour or whoever she was recently.

You’dve had to check my score card to find out that I occasionally present myself as a Christian... albeit a pretty sorry excuse for one.

Our Senators have a way of bringing out the very worst in me.

Maine has always had a conservative remnant, I guess you could say, which has comprised, by my estimate, about 35% of the ME Republican Party.
Needless to say, they are long accustomed to being outvoted, ignored, and marginalized.

It was this stubborn, valiant, long suffering remnant along with a recent infusion of the Maine Patriot / TEA party phenomenon which took the GOP Convention by storm and surprise in May.

You could tell that the “Sisters” were none too tickled by it, or the overwhelming display of support for our dark horse come-from-behind grass-roots Gubernatorial Candidate, Mayor Paul LePAGE of Waterville.

Sen. COLLIN’s “Anointed One” - Hahvahd Laaawyah Steve ABBOTT, former Collins Aide De Camp who was selected to be her political sock puppet in Augusta following his fully expected immaculation as Governor, got unexpectedly left in an embarassing cloud of popular dust - which tickled not his RINO Sister matrons one iota.

Much to the “progressive” republican party establishment elite’s dismay, no doubt, Popular Mayor LePAGE won the primary by an overwhelming margin despite having what I seem to recall the smallest war chest of financial resources of any of the 7 contenders.
About 700 registered Democrats WROTE HIM IN even though their ballots were disqualified, and a lot more Dems and “undecided / undeclared” Voters knew enough to re-register R prior to the election just so they could vote for him.

As Mayor of Waterville Paul cut spending, reduced the size of government, lowered taxes, and restored their favorable credit rating.
Against all odds as a Republican in a heavily Democrat city, he won re-election.

Homeless at the age of 11, Paul knows first hand the despair of the welfare State system, and has vowed to make major welfare reforms a priority upon his assuming office.
That will be LONG overdue!

His Dem opponent, Shellie PINGREE, is getting big buck$ from out of state “progressive” sources such as “moveon.org” while most of his ME supporters are digging for change under the couch to help him win in November.
If anyone so inclined could help us help him, by all means check out his website (I don’t think I’m supposed to include the URL or link here but it’s easy to search out)and drop a few denaro into the hat to help liberate Maine from over 20 years of Marxist Welfare State repression! (And yes, dear hearts, I DO include our two career Senators in that ruling elite class as well).

Just one correction, Paul LePage’s gubernatorial Dem opponent in Libby Mitchell, a dingbat who has been a legislator for far too long. Pingree, D-1 is being challenged by Dean Scontras.

Snowe and Collins will await their turns in ‘12 and ‘14 and hopefully they will be retired then.
