Michigan Arrest in Serial Stabbings Case

(CBS/AP) Police and FBI agents have arrested a suspect in the serial murder investigation which spanned three states and has left five people dead, police confirmed Thursday morning.

A statement from police in Leesburg, Virginia released a statement saying a tip had turned into a "strong investigative lead" on Wednesday and that an "individual who has ties to both the Flint, Michigan and Leesburg, Virginia areas" was taken into custody on unrelated charges.

Investigators from the Michigan Task Force, Leesburg and the FBI worked this lead through the night. A person of interest was taken into custody. He is currently being held on unrelated charges.

Yes, I heard this story once on the radio at the beginning of the week, with no mention of the racial aspect in the report.

because of the n. Virginia focus of the case, I decided to go to the Leesburg newspaper site, and find out more. There I found the additional info.

Frankly I'm surprised that the whole story hasn't attracted more attention, race factor and all.

I hope they got the guy, yes.

Yesterday someone said that Drudge had a link that described him as potentially mexican or middle eastern but I couldn’t find the story.

Details of the arrest, nor the man's name, were not immediately known. However, a law-enforcement source told the Washington Post that the man was about to board a flight for Tel Aviv.

If it takes days (weeks?) to see his ethnicity we'll know that he's not a white American.

The middle eastern description was in a Toledo Blade article but was dropped after the initial story.

The suspect is described by police as about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, presumably of Middle Eastern decent with black hair and brown eyes.
