A New York City judge has granted bail for a flight attendant accused of cursing out a passenger on an airplane public-address system, grabbing some beer from the galley and exiting on an emergency slide.
Steven Slater is charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing.
Defense attorney Howard Turman asked a judge in Queens Tuesday to release him without bail.
The judge instead set bail at $2,500. Slater smiled slightly as he was escorted into the courtroom.

I understand he’s not a flight risk, but is he a runway risk?
RECOMMENDATION:
Stand by for the FAA investigation and U.S. Attorney's office....
Prolly a different courtroom... different charges... etc.
Hope that little "defense fund" does very well on FB.
Just sayin'....
Are you freaking KIDDING??? He is a PUNK KID who was having GAY SEX when the police came to get him!! Geesh...he doesn’t deserve one thing!
Ok, I don’t agree with the whole gay thing but that has nothing to do with what he did on the plane.
Slater is 39 years old, not quite a ‘punk kid’. As for your second statement, what does that have to do with anything?
Slater was completely irresponsible in his behavior on the plane. That’s what concerns me, not his homosexuality. But everything points to him having an alcohol problem, exacerbated by his personal stress/family concerns. However, safety comes first for airlines employees and they are entrusted to use emergency measures when needed for the safety of the passengers, not for their own personal use. I’m talking about deploying the slide. I don’t even mind him cursing the passenger, although it calls for discipline, but opening the plane is a huge taboo.
“No Flight Risk”
Yeah, I’d bet no airline wants him on a plane right now, lol.
Isn’t that special?
*shaking my head*
We can be thankful that Steven is no longer working for the airlines.
I'm not asking you or anyone to contribute - but perhaps some people may be interested - The FB page was set up by someone who thinks Steven Slater is "special".
Many years ago, sometime in the 80’s I was flying out to LA..this was during a time when the airlines were all promoting their $99 coast to coast fares...It was a DC-10, just about full...for some reason, dinner service was delayed, so the movie started late...this was back when they lowered screens in the front of the cabin..and it was a long film, with about 30 minutes left, the flight attendant announces that we’re starting our descent, so they’ll ahve to stop the movie, and to start getting ready, etc...well, the cabin goes nuts..people are pissed, yelling, booing..finally, one stew gets on the mike, and screams..WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE? WHAT THE HELL TO YOU WANT FOR $99???
I know you’re not and wasn’t implying you were.
Okay?
May I ask, what is your FR name based on?
Are you a pilot or flight crew member?
1st time I saw this story, it was a black guy, bout 2 hrs. later it was a white guy, that was Fox News both times
‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’
Mr. Slater’s well on his way to cultural iconhood. The two beers and exit via slide were especially good.
As fiction or fantasy, maybe. As reality, definitely not.
Well, I like the guy.
Why? What is there to like?
