I was watching the Bridgestone yesterday and I was thinking several things:

1) It’s great to see a tournament where it’s not all Tiger, all the time.

2) When they showed the montage of Tiger’s bad day, I felt kind of sorry for him.

3) Then, I was thinking - what if this is just a ploy (making such a complete mess of things) to get us feeling sorry for him and rooting for him again. The reason I thought this was because every part of his game is crap. If nothing else, he could slow down and take his time on the shots. Instead, he is hacking around. His drives stink. His green shots are amateurish. His putts are woeful.

(Sorry to sound so cynical, but rich people pay a lot of semi-rich people to manipulate us at every turn.)

I agree. I think he is vying for sympathy. I don’t think you can lose all of that natural talent so quickly and completely. He will probably come out and win at the PGA and then there will be a whole new Tiger Woods story.
