Crist/Matthews: Historically Illiterate Love Fest
NewsReal ^ | August 7, 2010 | David Forsmark

Chris Matthews and Charlie Crist got so slobbery over each other Friday night that all reason and historical perspective was shed quicker than clothes in a parked car with Sam Cooke singing Don’t Know Much About History on the radio.

CRIST: The 14th Amendment should stay the way it is …That’s the way it’s always been.

Ummm, Sorry Charlie, if it was the way it had “always been,” it wouldn’t be in an amendment. But aside from the fact that it was passed in 1868, some mention that it was written to include the children of slaves would have been nice. Some recognition that it was to protect the family status of people who were forced to come here, not people who purposely broke the law to come here and get backdoor citizenship for their offspring.

Wanna unmask the open borders crowd? Suggest this:

Sure, give 'em limited citizenship. But no voting for 10 years, and no Social Security or welfare benefits, ever.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Google Ann Coulter’s latest column for a little more historically accurate background on this than provided by either you or Charlie Crist.

Specifically, investigate Supreme Court Justice Brennan’s contribution: he was the one who invented the idea that the children on illegals can become “birthright” citizens.

In the original discussion surrounding passage of the 14th Amendment, it was made clear that not even the children of LEGAL aliens should have citizenship; this was yet another invention of yet another “Supreme” Court.

I continue to remain blissfully ignorant of everything that is said or seen on MSNBC. Matthews is, as I have heard, nothing more than visual ipecac for the politically bulimic.

Without the 14th Amendment, there would be no Left in America.

There would be no liberals, socialism, progressives, or any other collectivists.

They literally would not exist, because there would be no place in law for them to take hold.

THAT is how important the 14th Amendment is - and WHAT it is.
