ObamaCare, Missouri, and the Coming Inflection Point
Commentarymagazine.com ^ | 8/4/2010 | Peter Wehner

What happened in Missouri yesterday is quite remarkable. By nearly a 3-to-1 margin, voters rejected a key provision of President Obama’s health-care law.

...

Symbolic is one way to describe Tuesday’s vote; ominous (for the Democrats) is another.

...

It is hard to overstate the toxicity of the Obama agenda. Losing a net total of 65 or more Democratic House seats is now possible (if not yet likely). We are less than 100 days away from what looks to be an inflection point, one of those rare mid-term elections that altar the trajectory of American politics.

As FReepers have been saying for a long time, GOP candidates should run on a platform of repeal.

My candidate won and he promises to work on overturning it.

The only remarkable thing was the election in Nov. 2008. The rest of this stuff is just chest thumping ...

Well, the States have enormous latent power.

Much more power than all the 7.62mm that's been stockpiled since November 2008.

The Federal government simply CANNOT dissolve or neutralize a State which exercises its authority properly .

The problem is that State governments have become atrophic - but they should in theory be easier to take over than Congress.

Interesting times.

Not a single Network State Media outlet, ABC-NBC-CBS, couldn't bring themselves to rain on Obamah's birthday by reporting on the overwhelming rejection of ObamaCare, instead it is ice cream, cake and songs.

Their bias and advocacy is disgusting!

"It is hard to overstate the toxicity of the Obama agenda."

And saying so has nothing to do with his race...either one.

Man did you nail it. The states have enormous power if they choose to use it.

Unfortunately an amazing number of people don’t even know who their state reps are, let alone what they’re up to.

People scream about unions and democrats in Michigan but few have any clue that it was a republican and several republican co sponsors who introduced the bill that forced the unionization of home care workers. Just the other day another republican here introduced a resolution calling for a constitutional ban on drilling for oil and gas under the great lakes.

One of the most irritating things is people whining about the feds taking the power away from the states. The reality is that the states have mostly sold their rights in return for a share of the federal pie.

I for one am not impressed with how much money a congressman brings into the district. I’m far more impressed with a congressman who seeks to keep the money in the district where the revenue is generated.

Even if the Republicans DO win 65 house seats, how do we know they will not blow their chance again to lead? The GOP has a self-destruct suicidal tendency.

But as much as they want to celebrate his birthday, his face from this photo in Politico this week tells a different story...
