Missouri primary election may draw 1 million voters

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan predicts that more than 1 million voters will cast ballots in Tuesday's primary election, representing about 24 percent of registered voters.
Six of the nine counties in Northeast Missouri also are expected to exceed that statewide average, according to a release from Carnahan's office.
Knox County Clerk Debbie McCurren said the state forecast of 46.4 percent turnout may be a little high, but her own prediction is for 40 percent participation.
"Absentee ballots are a pretty good indicator, and we've had a lot of people voting absentee. Mainly I think it's because of the race for circuit clerk," McCurren said.
Longtime incumbent Jim Gibbons is being challenged in the Democratic primary by Kelly Hayes.
On the Republican ballot, the hottest race is one step removed from the county level, with Craig Redmon and Neill McKee vying for the GOP nomination for 1st District state representative. The men are seeking the seat that will be left vacant when Rep. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, leaves office in January due to term limits. The winner will face Democrat Keri Cottrell, who is running unopposed on the Democratic ballot.
Carnahan's turnout prediction for Shelby County is 34.3 percent. Two big local races involve three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for associate circuit judge, pitting James McConnell, Mike Greenwell and Steven E. Raymond, and two John K. Chinn and Cathy Strachan running for county collector.
Monroe County's biggest local race involves the Democratic matchup between Donald Simpson and Mike Minor for presiding county commissioner.
Missourians also have a statewide proposition that is drawing national attention. Proposition C is a test of public sentiment about the federal mandate that individuals must buy health insurance under a law passed by Congress early this year.
Weather forecasts call for the possibility of scattered showers on Tuesday, along with temperatures in the mid to high 90s.
Polling sites will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
My wife works right next to the polling place. I will have voted for Prop C by 0830..
Am I the only one who thinks this is odd? Since when does a race for "circuit clerk" fire up the masses? My cynical side says they are running a test to see how many phantom votes they can push through the system without getting caught. If they are successful, then they will be all set for November.
May God defeat 0dumbo.
You might be onto something. The Carnahan siblings’,(her brother disgraces us in 1st District)combined IQ wouldn’t reach water’s freezing point. Thus they are openly controlled by the Lib powers that be. I can definitely see them being used to steal votes. It is also while you hardly ever see them in public; they are just too dumb to put in front of cameras..
If we get busloads in NY and drive to MO, can we vote like what happened in IL in 2008? We have more integrity than that...

The race for Roy Blunt’s seat is really crowded, too. Congressional 7th district has 7 GOP candidates I think, since Blunt is running for Bond’s Senate seat. I still am not sure who I’ll vote for.
I’m leaning toward Billy Long.
I know I won’t vote for Darrell Moore because he’s proven himself incompetent time and time again as Greene County Prosecutor. Why would we want to give him a promotion?
I won’t vote for Goodman because his radio ads are sleazy.
I think I am too, although I heard some attack ad today about him going on a gambling junket to Vegas. The ad sounded a bit desperate, but I don’t even know who sponsored it. At least we know he’s been a successful biz man for a long time; that’s a step in the right direction.
YES ON C.
SCREW D.C.
On my way out in about 20 min. Yes on C, Todd Akin, Brian Nieves - my top 3.
Voted for Propostion C and all the conservative/Tea Party candidates that were on the ballot.
Turnout at 7:30 AM seemed heavy for a primary.
I hope it is enthusiasm to return serve in general on the Reds, and say FU specifically to the RaceMarxist’s CommieCare.
Please help. Who are the tea party candidates?
You may need to FReepmail EyeGuy.
I would say the conservative candidates are Purgason, Icet, Nieves.
Well, the Tea Party by design, does not endorse candidates per se.
When I deployed the “Tea Party Candidate” nomenclature I was referring to the candidates that best fit with the Tea Party ideals. Thus, those candidates would be based strictly on my own interpretation of their platform.
More here on the Tea Party’s non-endorsement stance:
“I would say the conservative candidates are Purgason, Icet, Nieves.”

Pretty much the way I have it, as well.
