Former Vice President Dick Cheney is still in the hospital after heart surgery in early July.

Daughter Liz Cheney says her 69-year-old dad is out of intensive care and hopes to return home this week. She tells "Fox News Sunday" that he's already planning trips for fly fishing and hunting later this year.

Dick Cheney has had five heart attacks since he was 37. In his recent surgery at a northern Virginia hospital, Cheney had a small pump installed to help his heart work.

They may be keeping him in the hospital in hopes of finding a heart for him soon.

Pennsylvania Gov. Robert Casey lived for 7 years after a heart-liver transplant.

I just read this on another site. I monitor the news, FR, and other sites daily, and this is the first I knew he was still in the hospital, especially ICU. There was something in the news several weeks ago that he was in need of a heart transplant, but I had no idea he was still in the hospital. Maybe the media, including Fox, was too busy covering Chelsea's wedding??

May God bless this good man and may he go fly fishing and hunting here on earth soon.

Liz Cheney said she will host Hannity on Fox News next Friday and will devote part of the hour to progress fighting heart disease.

My husband had a heart transplant in June!!! He is doing great. An LVAD which is what VP Cheney had is an extremely invasive and difficult procedure. It was an option for my husband and the doctors were looking in that direction, however a donor heart became available. When they were explaining the LVAD to us, we were told it is more difficult than bypass or transplant and the risks are greater than either. The hospital stay and recovery is up to four weeks. If one is on a transplant list, and they have to do an LVAD, they are removed from the list. I am stunned that the media did not give more information on the LVAD pump procedure, which is cutting edge and interesting. Possibly the Cheney’s wanted to be more private about it. I suspect that they are using it as bridge to transplant and if he would get a heart, the news will not be kind to Cheney. I know that we heard every bit of news on Clinton’s bypass.
