I'd trust a normal civilian on just about anything before I'd trust a cop. Cops have a bad track record on crimes that are sexual in nature, and commit them about 3 times the rate of the general population. It probably has something to do with them being in a position of power and authority, and the type of people that jobs like that attract.

On a much smaller but more pronounced scale, they're probably similar to politicians, who are also well known for their disproportionately frequent sexual deviancy.
