I believe they are not MARRIED but had a CIVIL CEREMONY formalizing their “partnership”. They did not call it a wedding but a “civil partnership”.

I think what Great Britian has is domestic partnership and that is what they have.It is our media who have seized on the word marriage.

In fact Elton John himself is not in favor of gay marriage. Here’s what he has said on the subject:

The guy lives his life as he chooses and, Elton John doesn't need to stand on anyone's back to reach the top. A rare thing when a celebrity chooses to thumb his nose at the Hollywood establishment.
