Why are we discussing racism?

Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?

According to Gallup polling of last week, the issues most on the minds of Americans are the economy and jobs followed by dissatisfaction with all aspects of government.

I didn’t notice racism on the list anywhere.

The NAACP says it was “snookered” by Fox News on the Shirley Sherrod story.

I say we’ve all been snookered by the NAACP.

The NAACP has shown that those who have written this organization off as irrelevant are wrong. It demonstrated this past week that if it so chooses it can dominate the national discussion with its racial agenda, regardless of what the real pressing issues of national concern may be.

Shirley stated in her very first interview (CNN) that she first heard that this story was coming on Friday July 16th. No follow up question as to who it was that told her. That was three days before Breitbart posted the story. I'd like to know who it was. Was it the guy that gave Breitbart the tape? Was it a set up? Can we find out or even raise the question?

It is all about putting the majority white population in America on the defensive.
It is all out of the Marxist playbook, and designed to humiliate those who do not march to the Marxist regime.

And to repeat the turnout of 2008.

It’s a drag that we can only handle one scandal every couple of weeks.

Why are we discussing racism?

Because the Democrats and their "mainstream" newsroom allies want to motivate their black base. The rats have no energy right now, so the newsrooms are doing what they can to create some. Blacks are all they got, outside of the typical atheists, pinky-ring union thugs, abortion enthusiasts, condom-throwers, Boy Scout-hating lesbians, hand-wringing college professors, Hollywood drunks, and the rest of the America-hating parasites, losers, and goofballs who comprise the Democrat party “base".

So the Rats don't have to talk about the economy and jobs.

Racism floats obama's sinking boat, that's why. In this post racial administration's view, race is both an offensive and defensive position.

Ask Fox News, Breitbart, the fed prosecutor of the Black Panther incident in Philly, targets and victims all.

The Racial Grievance Industry is too big too fail! Its getting a government bailout, courtesy of Bambi and the Rats.

Too many race hustling poverty pimps would need to be re-trained. And for what? What can they do, learn Microsoft Word and Excel? Then what? All the likes of Jealous and Jesse and Al know is art of the shakedown. Follow the money. There’s too much cultural inertia to just all of a sudden stop. Besides, most American whites have that Pavlovian knee jerk response of instant tail between the legs when accused of racism. And out comes the wallet. It’ll take a generation for this to finally go away. You can’t turn around the Titanic on a dime.

Was it a set up?

Yes, but not the kind of 'set up' you might think.

For instance, Vilsack throwing Sherrod under the bus as a 'sacrifice' to Obama was totally unexpected.

The reason for showing the video they were given was the behavior of the NAACP, not Sherrod, and Breitbart/Beck explained this on their program during the airing.

Thanks to the reaction of Obama and staff, the nation's attention was drawn to the WHOLE VIDEO, and people witnessing for themselves what happened at the NAACP meeting.

These same people also witnessed OBAMA firing SHERROD, then BACKTRACKING and REHIRING HER.

WHEN YOUR ENEMY IS CUTTING HIS OWN THROAT, best thing to do is sit back and watch.

It is all about putting the majority white population in America on the defensive.

By convincing them the boogiemen are out to get them.

It is about putting the minority negro population in America on the defensive.

By convincing them the mean old plantation owner needs some new slaves.

A nation divided cannot put it's WHITE HOUSE in order.

If the WHITE HOUSE (all obama's buddies) are UNITED, they rule over the nation, which becomes dependent on 'them' to KEEP THE PEACE (with more CIVIL RIGHT'S LEGISLATION.)

Which is silly, because the only legislation needed is contained in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

If we just followed it, with no interference, we wouldn't have these problems.

In answer to the question, “When blacks don’t make progress, who or what is to blame?”, 52% of blacks responded that “blacks” themselves are “mostly responsible”, and 34% said “racism.” This is the reverse of how blacks responded to this question just 15 years ago, when 56% said that racism was the impediment to black progress.

If those stats are accurate, the trend is great.

I tried to imagine what young black males might think of Shirley Sherrod. She belongs to the distant past, not the future.

This administration has run out of options in trying to rescue the November elections for democrats. Race and class warfare is all the ammo they have and they will use it as readily as spending our money whether they have to create incidents or just take others out of context.

Exactly.. they have changed the subject successfully...which was their goal .

When you call people racists they feel the need to defend themselves..so they have thrown the conservatives and the tea party off message and they are LOL all the way to the polls

Conservative candidates that are off message should make one clear statement put it on line and say they will not address it again ..then take charge of the agenda again

They are "wearing out" their KEY weapon. When the libs want to attack, the weapon is "call them a racist" ... we get that clearly from Journolist. But with "racism" being discussed OVER and Over and OVER and OVER on the news cycles and in blogs and privately ... it is becoming an over-used and rather blunted term.

It is similar to calling someone a "Jackass" ... we know they aren't really an "animal with long ears" ... it is just a "name" with which people tag other people they don't like. And when a bystander hears the "name-calling" the attention is most often drawn to the "caller" not the "call-ee". The term "Racism" is becoming the same. The "meaning" of it is being blunted. There was a time, calling someone a racist brought up thoughts of legal proceedings and jail time. Now, it is just another "slam" word.

Let's say I call a "lib" a "jackass" ... Does my comment reflect on "me" or on "the lib?" Your attention is drawn to me for saying it, and your doubt about my potential credibility is also drawn to me. When we resort to name calling ... credibility suffers. (PS ... something to think about here on FR, how often do we get angry and "name call" rather than state logic?)

It is like crying "wolf" too many times ... and when real racism happens, nobody will respond. The lib's weapon of 'last resort' is being dulled and negated with overuse.

Greg Gutfeld of Fox News Red Eye had it exactly right, it’s not about racism, it’s about ‘accusations’ of racism. When put in this context, it really exposes how juvenile and silly this all really is.

“Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?”

Because the Ruling Class want it to be.

“Racism” was dealt with effectively here in the 60s and 70s - so much so that you can now drive through any neighborhood - middle class, upper middle, lower middle, upper - and see black people and white people living side by side.

The “race problem” is being generated by “Progressives” so that they will have yet another artificial crisis to utilize as a controller of the people.
