Allen West, a retired U.S. Army officer and GOP candidate for Congress in Florida, claims he was disinvited from a high-profile charity fundraiser after his Democratic rival's wife "prodded" donors to protest and "blackmail" the organization.
West, the GOP candidate for Congress in Florida's 22nd District, and his wife, Angela, had accepted an invitation from the South Florida Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to be honored as South Florida Finest Couple on Sept. 24. They agreed to raise $10,000 for the foundation in accepting the nomination.
However, West said he received a phone call from the executive director of the foundation requesting that he and his wife withdraw from the affair.
"She informed me that she has received complaints from certain individuals who have threatened to withdraw their support to the Cystic Fibrosis gala event if Angela and I are honored," West wrote in a July 19 letter to event Chairman William Lewis posted on Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs blog. "She humbly asked if I would agree to step down and allow the event to proceed and not disrupt the support to the foundation. These individuals have called and complained to the National Foundation decrying 'politicizing' of the event."
West said he was told the foundation could lose as much as $200,000 if it kept him on the list. His name has been removed from the foundation's list of honorees. In his letter, he demanded a formal letter of apology to his wife.

I feel sorry for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation this is definitely an no no no win situation.

Col. West would not say this but I will. The above-mentioned people (obviously liberals) should be accused of racism. Turn-about is fair-play.

So much for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Liberals holding children hostage. I think it might be a new low. Kind of, “let the children drown in their own secretions” if Mrs. West were to chair the event...Dear God.
If you can, this is the candidate to support with donations. He will make a difference.

He ought to go with a camera crew and tell them he is on the “black” list. If they say there is no black list he should say, “Then check your African-American list. If I’m not on that list, see if you have a Red-Blooded American list, (you pansy)!” and see what they do or say at that point.
A black conservative with brains and character. No wonder they hate him.

You can say that again. And he has way more class too. I went to a "welcome a soldier home" event at the airport about a year ago which Col. West also attended. He drew no attention to himself, was cordial and humble when I complimented him on an interview on local radio he did that morning. There is just something about that man that instills trust. If I needed life or death help and had a choice of bambi or Col. West, there is just no contest.
Not political? Ron Klein’s wife (whom he ran against to get in office), pressures the foundation; The CFF puts out a statement on West, then later puts out a statement that they asked both honorees to step aside.
Um kay.
So I guess CFF doesn’t lobby either.
The two donors who called and complained are Ron Klein supporters and threatened to pull their support at the behest of Klein’s wife. The McCloskey and Levy families, specifically. Allen’s blogspot has the report a well as a letter Allen wrote to the foundation demanding a letter of apology for his wife Angela for being treated this way.
For those who do not know, Allen is running against Klein and last quarter raised almost a million dollars more according to FEC Reports. I spent last weekend in Palm Beach at a fundraiser for Allen that he held at a local shooting range where he let us know the fantastic news about his fundraising. He though I did pretty well at 50ft but at 12ft I pretty much sucked!!! lol
Anyway, Allen’s blogspot is at http://gowestforallenwest.wordpress.com/ with his letter being the first article. You can also google his blacklisting and come up with tons of sites that carried this outrage.
