Obama to campaign in Texas (Former Houston Mayor Bill White will not attend event)

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama plans fundraisers for fellow Democrats in Republican-controlled Texas, but his party's nominee for governor said Tuesday he would not join the event scheduled in the city that he used to run.

Former Houston Mayor Bill White told The Associated Press that he couldn't block Obama from supporting his campaign .. also suggested that Obama's visit opens the door for Republican Gov. Rick Perry to continue running against Washington insiders — an unwelcomed distraction in the Democrats' best chance to win the governorship in years.

...

White is hardly the first candidate to ditch an Obama event.

Oh, I feeel for you , Mr. White.. that ol' Obama curse can really bite , huh?

Be a shame if the Dems didn't get a fair chance at decimating another state that has actually done reasonably well considering the economy and state of affairs in DC.

This will go about as well as him getting the Olympics ... or stumping for Martha Coakley.

Typical Dem. The Dem state legislators flee the state when they don’t get their way. Dems just don’t show up when something is happening that they don’t like.

Houston is the ONLY CITY IN TEXAS that Obama could even think of appearing at. Barely. The Katrina-ites have left in large part.

I’d love for him to come to Austin (my part of Texas)......

I don’t know...there seems to be alot of Obamanauts here in Austin. I’m sure they would give him a key to the city. I am in Austin and I am tired of seeing O bumper stickers. I hope he does stay away from here.

"I believe Rick Perry will try to run against President Obama because he knows that he can't beat me."
If that isn't a crock. What a coward. Obama is White's kind of guy. White, true to his party loves taxes and illegals. Perry might face a tough re-election if he weren't facing White.

So, if he’s not campaigning for White, who is he stumping for? Sheila Jackson-Lee?

Dems often come to Texas for fundraisers. Even if they know it means nothing to races in the state. It’s all about Trial Lawyer cash. Those phony asbestos suits add up. Suing doctors and hospitals and just about any other organization with deep pockets makes these guys the biggest contributors to the Dems. They are low life bottom feeders.

It was my understanding that Obama was also doing a fundraiser in Austin down at the Four Seasons.

I am surprised the Statesrag is not trumpeting that fact!

That’s something Obama and White share in common, neither one of them could land the Olympics for their cities.

It was actually our affirmative action mayor, Lee “Outta Town” Brown who failed in the Olympics bid. A pity. It would have been interesting to have the Olympics in one of the hottest places on the planet. I’d love to see marathoners competing in 100° + heat or during a hurricane.

City off list for 2016
Houston might chase other events to boost standing with Olympic reps

For the moment, though, Houston received bad news once more Wednesday from the USOC’s leadership team, which eliminated the city for the second time in four years as a U.S. candidate city to host the Summer Olympics.

I knew Brown “lost” the Olympics; didn’t know White had tried as well. So, I guess he and Zero do have that in common.
