(Angus Reid Global Monitor) More people in the United States are expressing support for deporting all illegal immigrants currently working in the country, according to a poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion. 50 per cent of respondents share this opinion, up eight points since May.
On the contrary, 27 per cent of respondents would allow illegal workers to remain in the U.S. and eventually apply for citizenship, and 16 per cent would allow them to work on a temporary basis but not offer them a chance to become citizens.
In March 2006, the Pew Hispanic Center calculated the number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. at somewhere between 11.5 million to 12 million.
On Apr. 19, the Arizona State Senate voted 17-11 to pass an immigration bill, also known as the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhood Act. The Arizona House of Representatives had previously endorsed the legislation in a 35-21 vote. The new bill includes provisions such as making it a crime to transport someone who is an illegal immigrant; requiring state and local police to determine the status of a person if there is reasonable suspicion that they are illegal immigrants; arresting people who are unable to provide documentation to prove they are in the U.S. legally; and making it a crime to hire day labourers off the street.
U.S. President Barack Obama called the Arizona immigration law misguided and called for a common-sense, comprehensive immigration reform grounded in the principles of responsibility and accountability. The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit, claiming that only federal authorities should be in a position to enforce immigration laws.
On Jul. 7, Republican Arizona governor Jan Brewer defended the immigration law in the face of the lawsuit, saying, Todays [lawsuit] is nothing more than a massive waste of taxpayer funds; these funds could be better used against the violent Mexican cartels than the people of Arizona.

those numbers will only rise along with the unemployment figures
Half of Americans Would Deport All Illegal Residents and many of those who support deportation are some of President Obama’s biggest supporters-—the economically hard hit black community.
But we are only a "democracy" when it fits the Leftist agenda. At all other times, we are a Republic with a representative form of government. And the political elite who represent us do not care that we want illegals deported. So this task will not be done.
Under no scenario does the will of the people really count for much. Basically, the political establishment gets what it wants -- the people be damned.
We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border with a fence and armed troops, and SHOOT anyone trying to re-enter illegally. It’s time to take out the trash in America.
Fine the employers who hire them, and these people will self-deport.
when politicians claim it can’t be done what are they really saying
They are saying it does not fit their agenda, and it tells us how crooked and corrupt they are.
Let in a few more million, and the poll number will be below 50%, and reported then as “Only a minority of Americans would support deportation of illegal aliens.” It’s part of the traitorous long term plan to stack the electorate with those whose loyalties lie elsewhere.
find the emplohyers who hire them....
That would take care of the problem easily. If the employers had to deal with their actions, there would not be jobs for the illegals in the first place.
Immigration control is a winning issue, but the Republicans have had to be brought to the table on it kicking and screaming. Many of them pretend to now support immigration restriction but use weasle words in doing so.
This issue is every bit as important, in my view even more so, than the bankrupt level spending and federal power grabs now going on in Washington, District of Corruption.
Am I for “comprehensive immigration reform”? You betcha: Seal the border, heavy fines on employers of illegals, deportation when caught with no opportunity to ever return, repeal of anchor baby policy, and sharply reduced numbers of legal immigrants.
Load’em up in my pickup, and I’ll take vacation time and buy my own gas to haul them down to the border. I can probably haul a half-dozen or so. And I have no doubt I can find several hundred other volunteers within a week or so.
I would say a lot more than half would deport them.
They should be deported.
Make that half plus one.
I get physically sick every time I hear a politician (of both parties) say "Secure the Boarder First and then we'll work on Comprehensive Immigration Reform". We don't need "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", we need to enforce all of our current immigration laws.
While we're at it, we should change our immigration laws to exclude any further Muslims whose stated purpose is to subjugate all non-Muslim people by force. It is stupid to invite people into your home whose stated purpose is to kill you!
Only half?
The other half just won’t admit it.
More information on the wonderful illegals now inside our country thanks to the Demoncrats ...
Take a look at this FBI Wanted for Murder List to see how wonderful diversity is !!!

About 90% Hispanic, for those who don’t wish to count (or see all their ugly mugs)
BTW
62% of Hispanic Voters in Colorado said they are in favor of AZ type of immigration law.

Then the “Other” 50% must be illegals.
