BMI is a flawed calculation that only contains squared, not cubed factors.

This means it is not taking into account the volume of a person's body, just their height.

A really tall person will be classified as obese even if they're a string bean.

A really short person will be classified as healthy even if they are shaped like a basketball.

All this means that men are going to be misclassified as obese at a far higher rate then women, which is good, because we always like to find new ways to punish men.

Men bad. Women good.

BMI is really bad for athletes.

For example, Donald Driver, one of the leanest guys in the NFL, with somewhere around 5% body fat has a BMI of 26.3, well into the “overweight” category.

Ryan Braun, another pretty thin athlete has a BMI of 26.4.

Then there’s Prince Fielder and his BMI of 37.7. By these standards, Obama’s civilian defense force should be taking him to the special camp so he can diet.
