They would have fought him, but they wouldn’t have won quite so easily if he had defended himself vigorously at the start. Remember, silence means consent, and his silence in the face of attacks meant to most people that he had nothing to defend himself with and therefore he tacitly acknowledged the truth of what was being said.

Bush would certainly never have stooped to the gutter level of the Dems and the press or launched an attack of his own. But the fact of the matter was that they were the ones who were lying, and he should simply have said so.

Many of us here commented on it at the time. I attribute it all to Bush’s gentlemanly desire to instill a “new tone” in DC (meaning that the Dems should grow up and get over the fact that they simply lost in 2000 and 2004). But what he saw as gentlemanly, they saw as weak, and we all know what a pack of dogs does to a weakened animal.

But the point is they would have won anyway, and all the energy Bush would have expended would have been at the expense of our soldiers' lives. I think he knew this and he made a choice, knowing he was not God and had to choose between battles to win the longer war. And it was the better choice IMO, one for which history will treat him kindly after this current crowd goes down.

Make no mistake...the MSM would have won. This was the same cabal that lied at every turn to get Obama in the WH. They were bound and determined to take back the power they saw Bush accruing as it was clear he was winning a huge war in Iraq.

I continue to steam about the lack of ‘intelligence’ from our career intelligence officers.

Imagine people like Valerie Plame tasked with defending our country.

People tend to forget how awful things were under the Clintons and how everything deteriorated, including the military and intelligence services (which was the cause of 9/11 IMO).

What I can't stand is when I see people now, including conservatives, adopting anything other than disgust about the way Bill Clinton is oozing back onto the national stage. He is a lousy man, a terrible President and I have nothing but disdain for him.

The thought of either Klinton is stomach turning.

They are both evil and the evil people who surrounded them in the background are now in the background of the O administration.

People like Emanuel, Gorelick and assorted other America haters.

The thought of Kagan as a USSC justice is abhorrent.

I actually lost a bet—I had to buy a Dem lunch-because I didn’t think GA was loony enough to have open primaries. I hadn’t lived here long yet; I moved down from MA and still thought it was paradise. Then a Dem friend told me the GA primaries were open, and I couldn’t believe it. Oh well.

Anyway, I never heard that insane logic for opening them in the first place. And of course the RINOs/country club bluebloods have been thrilled with the results. We need a shakeup at GOP headquarters. Sarah Palin would get busy and fix some of what’s broken in a hurry.

(Classrooms without windows should be considered cruelty to children. I spent fifth and sixth grades in one of those places-it was horrible.)

The WSJ already published something similar a few months ago when Rove's book came out. I remember when this was happening...Rush and others would play the quotes from the Dems during the Clinton administration about the WMD in Iraq and how hideous Sadam was. Why Rove couldn't/wouldn't counter these liars (starting with Dead Kennedy) was beyond me.

Rove gave us Obummer...his arrogance at the time killed us. The same disease will now lay the dems low in November...

I cannot count the number of times I wrote the WH and told them that if they didn't stand up for the “TRUTH” against the lying liberals, it would be their undoing. Well GWB was able to hang on and not be impeached, but I blame him and Rove for almost single handedly destroying the GOP. Hopefully the GOP will right their ship.

Sorry Karl, you SCREWED US OVER on Immigration - that was your BIGGEST MISTAKE

I agree. It was the least Constitutional of the things they did.

Alot of posters wish for another Reagan. I wish for another Lee Atwater type for our next conservative presidental candidate. An advisor who attacks liberals easily and ridicules them mercilessly. Politics is a contact sport and we can’t have panty-waisted advisors who allow ridiculous attacks to go unanswered. That is political malpractice.

Me too, Dubya was great at fighting the terrorists, but he let the homegrown problems get so far out of hand that I don’t know if this country will ever be the same again. He should have swatted them to the ground immediately and publically said “we leave politics at the waters edge in this country when we’re at war” and that would have shut them up.

Never say that your enemy (and that is what the press and the Dems are) would have won anyway. Not only did you lose the past battle, but you have lost all future ones.

And people who never fight back ALWAYS lose. It’s a 100% certainty.

Very false. Bad warfare strategy.

A good commander will stop fighting a battle he will lose in order to win the war.

Why waste your troops on a battle that only serves to exhaust your energies? Haven't you heard the term "pick your battles"? That was said by a wise general who knew the big picture and how to win wars.

Some of us would say public schools should be considered CRUELTY - but we continue to get outvoted by the parents that think ‘their’ public schools are “wonderful”.
