Oh great illegal immigrants and their anchor babies have grown up and had kids who themselves have had kids and now we have this! I wonder who all those hispanics will vote for? Hmmm! And California has the largest number of electoral college votes :( This is a sad day for America. I guess in 30 years the ruling government of California will be La Raza and they will succeed from the US.

As ethnic groups pass into the middle class - with one exception - they tend to vote more Republican. It won't be one-sided. Obama is a fool to think that a third-generation Mexican family has something in common with the campesinos who have just crossed the border.

Ask Canada/Quebec how having one province (state) with a separate language has worked out.

Hispanics and whites are not in the same category...one is an ethnicity and one is a color...
Hispanics come in all colors...many of them quite white....

California should be tossed from the Union. Or at least a part of it should be.

Do I see a cause and effect here? Has California been going to hell in a hand basket in direct proportion to the influx?

Glad I visited California a few times in the ‘70s and ‘80s while it was still the ‘Golden State’.

Yeah, illegal immigration and anchor babies are a big part of this, but don’t forget legal immigration. We admit over a millions legal immigrants per year, hundreds of thousands of which are Hispanic, and many of those go to California. I believe California is also the top destination for Asian immigrants as well, and they have favored the Democrats as well since at least Clinton. If we ended all illegal immigration, then California would still be on its way to becoming a Mexcian state, and would still be increasingly out of reach for the GOP.
It may be true that later generations of immigrants turn more Republican, but that is a false hope to cling to now. For one thing, all past waves of immigration were followed by periods of very little to moderate immigration. This wave shows now sign of ending on its own (and it won’t due to extended family chain migration), and the GOP establishment has not got behind any serious effort to reduce immigration. In fact, some Republicans helped torpedo the last attempt that had a real chance of success during the Clinton administration.

the tone of the article is triumphant —the ring of victory.
First they’re beseeching for the underdog, but make no mistake; they’re not “for underdogs” as a matter of principle.
They simple want one side “to win”.

California will be a diversity Utopia at long last once whitey is finally gone! Leftists everywhere are celebrating the “progress.”

This is a sad day for America. I guess in 30 years the ruling government of California will be La Raza and they will succeed from the US. California will likely be under central Mexican government authority by then. Whether it'll secede on its own or a declining U.S. surrenders it to Mexico is anyone's guess. Either way, I can't imagine a scenario in which CA is still a part of what remains of the U.S. in 2040.
