CBP Agents Performing Southbound Inspections Spot Vehicle Heading Toward Them
What started as an overnight crash in El Paso ended with shots fired on an international bridge.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, El Paso Police say a Chevy Suburban crashed into another vehicle at Castner and Lee Trevino in the Lower Valley, with the driver of the Suburban then taking off.
A police sergeant chased the driver for a short time until they got near the Zaragoza bridge. At that point, the sergeant watched the SUV driver try to make his way into Mexico.
ABC-7 has learned U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents shot at the SUV. Agents performing southbound traffic inspections spotted the vehicle heading toward them, and fearing for their lives, shot at the vehicle.
In addition, there were reports of gunfire on the Mexican side of the border. Chihuahua state police say at least 20 gunmen were involved in a shootout half a mile from the Ysleta Port of Entry early Sunday morning in the Juarez Valley.
Three people died as a result of the shootout, and several bullet-riddled vehicles were left along the Waterfill Zaragoza Highway.
Many questions remain unanswered Sunday, including whether or not anyone was struck. The suspect's name was not known as of Sunday.
The El Paso Police Crimes Against Persons unit is investigating and helping the FBI.
It really is just a matter of time. If I lived in El Paso, I would be stocking up on weapons, ammunition and a private stash of tear gas.

Border problem? What border problem? The Federal Government has everything under control. Try to take matters into your own hadns and AG Holder will sue you.
And Libs love these guys better than Americans. Remember in November!!!!!!
Geez, that’s close enough they may have actually been able to shoot directly from the gunshow without having to use the loophole.
Yet, Gov Goodhair claims that the situation in Texas and Arizona are not the same. They apparently don’t have the same problems. Hmmmm, coulda fooled me!
Tear gas?
If I wasn’t laughing, I’d be crying for real.
Gov. Perry was at the National Council of La Raza in San Antonio on Saturday.

It would keep them well out of the yard, wouldn’t it?
I Live here in El paso and I have a variety of weapons and ammunition. But no tear gas.
Nice of him to pay respect to the Latino KKK. Are all of our politicians aligned with minority hate groups?
Former Houston Mayor Bill White is supposed to speak today.
The what?
If you lived in El Paso, you'd need to already be stocked up. I'm not very close to the border, but am in Texas.
I was in San Antonio, which is less than 150 miles from the border. I'm well stocked up.. Of course, like fabric, you can never have too much ammunition. I've bought about 2500 rounds in the last year, 5.56, .30 carbine and .45 ACP. Plus 2,000 rounds of .22 LR.
