Union 'card-check,' cap and trade, and so much more
Democratic House members are so worried about the fall elections they're leaving Washington on July 30, a full week earlier than normaland they won't return until mid-September. Members gulped when National Journal's Charlie Cook, the Beltway's leading political handicapper, predicted last month "the House is gone," meaning a GOP takeover. He thinks Democrats will hold the Senate, but with a significantly reduced majority.
The rush to recess gives Democrats little time to pass any major laws. That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: "I've got lots of things I want to do" in a lame duck, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D., W. Va.) told reporters in mid June. North Dakota's Kent Conrad, chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, wants a lame-duck session to act on the recommendations of President Obama's deficit commission, which is due to report on Dec. 1. "It could be a huge deal," he told Roll Call last month. "We could get the country on a sound long-term fiscal path." By which he undoubtedly means new taxes in exchange for extending some, but not all, of the Bush-era tax reductions that will expire at the end of the year.

Looks like the hog farms around this country are going to fattened up by Henry Bowman.
“...full-throttle Stalinism after November vote...”
THIS is news? You expected ... what?
How the hell can you have a “significantly reduced majority” of ONE in the Senate?
I have no doubt Obama will be “bribing” lame duck congressmen and senators with promises of appointments, etc...
The GOP needs to simply filibuster everything out of the a lame duck congress, and they should be blunt about the reason. It was a lame-duck Senator from Mass. that got health care passed against the people’s wishes.
Well, Mitch and his merry band of appeasers will grab their ankles and back up as fast as they can. That answer your question?
I wish I was wrong, but I believe nothing less than armed resistance will stop what is coming. And I am very afraid that by the time people are willing to go that route, it will be too late.
Perhaps all of the losers in November should be jailed until at least 1 Feb. 2011.......
The threat lay in the people of America, cultural Christians and now socialized themselves, who have not lifted a finger to take back the public schools, who remain free to continue breeding a lab full of new little marxists for the future, and go along unchallenged by pooped out parents and grandparents.
After the oldsters die off, who is left to recognize the demise of freedom. No wonder health care is designed to hasten their good riddance. Apparently complete ignorance and distortion of history and truth IS the future.
The latest is that with the passing of Sheets Byrd there is no longer any internal Democrat opposition to doing away with the filibuster and speed-railing all of this thru the Senate.
We all need to gather on Capitol Hill the morning after the election. Nobody goes in or out till Jan. 20!
How about arresting some (most?) of these Senators right after the November elections and charge them with attempted murder of the once great nation known as the U.S.A.?
