Kids might not follow deported Russian spy parents

NEW YORK – Their cover blown, 10 Russian spies have given up their lives in the U.S. and headed home, but in at least one case their children probably won't follow.

A lawyer for Vicky Pelaez said Thursday that the teenage son she had with fellow Russian agent Mikhail Vasenkov during the decades they spent living in New York will most likely remain in the U.S., as will her 38-year-old son from a prior marriage. More at link... "He's 17 years of age. He'll probably stay with his brother," attorney John Rodriguez said.

Arrangements were being made to relocate other children of the 10 Russian spies, who on Thursday admitted infiltrating the U.S. under assumed names to gather information for Moscow.

Hours after pleading guilty Thursday, all 10 members of the spy ring, including eight who are parents and have children in the U.S., were deported to Russia. Just how soon their children might join them is unclear.

One other convicted couple, Mikhail Kutsik and Natalia Pereverzeva, had been making arrangements even before the plea deal to send their two young children home to Russia.

Prosecutors said in court papers last week that the pair, who had been living in Seattle and Arlington, Va., under the aliases Michael Zottoli and Patricia Mills, had asked family friends to get in touch with relatives and arrange for them to take custody of the kids, ages 1 and 3.

It wasn't immediately clear what type of travel arrangements were being made for the four other children involved in the case.

There is a lot more information at the link. Especially see the graphic (map) and follow the tabs through the many layers.

ICE and the liberals seem to have a problem about “splitting” families in illegal alien deportation, but they don’t seem to have any problem here.

I don’t think that we need to waste any tears over these folks. It seems to me that Russia is treating them royally — allowances, free food and housing, etc.

Russia is a great place to spy for, just not to live in
God forbid the children should have to give up American houses, supermarkets, shopping, schools and medical care ... yada yada yada

The the TEN are gone already, flown out like heroes of the Russian Revolution

obam and holder got FOUR in return, probably not spies but hapless political or other prisoners and not even Americans

what a deal

Presuming for the moment that the kids didn’t know the true story about their parents... that’s got to be a total mind-screw.

Imagine finding out when you’re 14 that your family is suddenly being deported to Russia... a country you know nothing about, have no connection to, and don’t even speak the language. Wow.

Wasn’t there a movie like that, with Sidney Poitier and and River Phoenix?

Great movie, by the way.

Phoenix was one hell of an actor...
