Democratic House members are so worried about the fall elections they're leaving Washington on July 30, a full week earlier than normaland they won't return until mid-September. Members gulped when National Journal's Charlie Cook, the Beltway's leading political handicapper, predicted last month "the House is gone," meaning a GOP takeover. He thinks Democrats will hold the Senate, but with a significantly reduced majority.

Run scared, you Rats.
The true enemies within? Domestic terrorists?
Run scared, you ‘Rats.
130+ House seats !!!!!!
You can keep the Senate if you must.
If the Donks follow this strategy, they’d better stay and retire in Washington, DC.
Many folks are saying that the ‘rats will try to ram as much as they can through between November 3 and Jan 1.
If they think people are angry now, just go ahead and try that. Bastille Day will be a picnic compared to the reaction to that.
RUN REAL SCARED!
If they do this, can we borrow the British fleet?
As long as those are conservative gains I’ll be happy. RINO gains won’t mean much.
Fox needs to keep showing the Pete Stark clips!!!! TERM LIMITS will be DEMANDED!!!
I believe you are right. Will it actually come to crowds of people having to flood Washington DC in protest, as in the 60s regarding civil rights and the Viet Nam war? (I assume any protest today would be as legal as those protests were then.)
This gang of thugs have such support from the dishonest propagandists posing as journalists that they'd welcome such "opportune crises" as proof of how dangerous the "Right Wing" is, and use maximum force to put down such protests and justify greater weight put on the neck of liberty.
On a totally different subject, anyone remember that cool Nintendo game called “Duck Hunt”...?
And, they canand will do this. The agenda is more important than the desire of the American voters and a lame-duck session in December will be a way for Obama, Pelosi and Reid to show the American voter who is boss.
Someone else mentioned that this is less of a fear than we would normally expect. Those who are due for reelection in 2012 are much less likely to rubberstamp things after the bloodbath in 2010.
You think the “journalists” would survive an American Bastille Day once it got started?
The PUBs need to take a page out of the RATs playbook. Legislation cannot be enacted without members of both parties present. It’s called a quorum. By simply not being in the chambers, there is no quorum. Hence, there cannot be any legislation enacted.
If we have Republican leadership with ANY brains or balls, this situation is easily remidied:
You insist on a private meeting with the President and gently EXPLAIN to him that ANY sort of attempt at this sort of ramrodding/attack on the country will INSURE the remaining 2 years of his term will be a living Hell....
FROM LINK :”That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation.”
Democrat Wish list for lame duck session:
1) Deficit commission higher and new taxes (with lower-mid income Bush tax cuts extended as bait for RINOs like McCain. This could also be pulled off in a budget reconciliation bill.)
2) Union Card Check(not sure how this is possible)
3) Cap and Trade carbon emission taxes added in reconciliation to a passed energy bill to pass the Senate(so don't let Senate RINOs vote for ANY energy bill now)

That will lead to the time honored question of dictatorships everywhere: Will the army support them?
And also gently explain that the congressmen who do this will be decorating lampposts up and down Constitution Avenue.
100+ total seats between the two houses are GONE for the Dems on the low end... and it is not beyond possibility to see 150 seats shift.
Anyone who is not from the bluest of blue districts is going to be gone.
From your mouth to God's ear! About 6 months ago, I made a prediction to hubby (Prince) that the GOP would gain 80 seats in the House. At the time, even I thought I was being too optimistic, lol.
Hopefully, we'll both be right!
Mrs. Prince of Space
Thanks for the info.
